Cluster Conversion
So I was bored yesterday and decided to do my Cluster with Blue leds. I have finished my climate control, Radio, shifter, window switches, cruise control and blinkers all in blue leds.
So I thought now the easy part, the gauges but I inslalled all the Leds in the stock position and low a behold I cant see Sh*#. so for any one who has already done this (and a know there is at least 1) how did you get it bright?????

just add a few LEDs to fill in the dark spots. LEDs do not put out a wide enough light spread to only fill the stock locations. i would like to try some ccfl to just wrap around inside the cluster. it would make for a much cleaner install and then you can abandon the stock light locations.

Have the direct replacement LEDs been treating you well (that may be the source of the blue hues)? I'm getting ready to completely redo my cluster w/o the use of direct replacement bulbs, as they keep dying. Going to try and get it all together w/o having to externally connect the additional LEDs outside of the cluster, and limit the voltage and current running to the LEDs prior to the resistors in order to stop the bulbs/resistors from burning out. The Texas heat doesn't help things either, so finding all the components that'll stand up to 130+F deg heat will be a challenge.

and that filter is a film that is applied to the backs of the gauges. it must be removed with acetone (fingernail polish remover).

you have have hot spots with any color of light. a hot spot is just one location where the light shines direct and the dimmer spots are the indirect light. you will have hot spots in the locations of the sock bulbs, while the rest of the numbers take the indirect light and appear dimmer.

^ not really.....its like putting a light about 3" behind a piece of paper. you will have one hot spot and the rest is reflective light, doesn't matter what the color is....light is still light
