Your entire first post was filled with false information and were simply and clearly refuted with real life data, yet we're the assholes. Okay.... sure.

Since I wasn't there I won't dispute the outcomes of the runs. But vehicles w/ 1/4 mile times differing by 1.5 to 2 seconds and 10 to 12 mph trap speeds are in different leagues. It has been a long time since I've personally been down a quarter mile, but one really must experiance being beaten by a 2 second margin. It is a long, sad and lonely time interval if you are the second car across.

One might argue the difference in ETs is in the launch/60ft times, but the difference in trap speed indicates that the BMWs are making much more power and accelerating faster throughout the run.

As much as I would like to think that I have giant killer - mine is anthracite too - I think the OP must have just out drove the Bimmers. I think most folk doing runs have experianced the fact that outcomes are often determined by which driver is willing to get on it more and then just drive cleaner.

Great commentary. Could very well be true.

The only area I think I mis-spoke was suggesting the CL has 9-10lb's per HP. I know my car is not making anywhere near 360hp let alone 320hp. But I do know that I have waited many years to run against late model vehicles with no mods and of known performance metrics. The two BMW's were excellent benchmarks to test against and I think my suspicions about the CL were borne out. That being:

- In a setting where traction and weight transfer are not an issue (from a 'on-cam' 65mph roll), the CLS6 can accelerate at rates not indicated by its baseline 1/4 mile or 0-60 times. It is a very fast car on the highway. Thats all I was trying to say.

Well, this has been fun back and forth.

Everyone is passionate and it shows. I really have no need to make any false claims or boast of performance that can be refuted by a community of knowledgeable owners. I posted because I myself was surprised.

I have no hard feelings towards anyone here today. It was a fun debate.

Take care everyone,
Suspekt

I highly recommend that you make a plan for your life, or you're going to be a virgin for all eternity. You should start by moving out of your grandmother's basement. Next I recommend an extreme amount of cardio, and its probably not a bad idea to buy a razor and cut off the internet connection. You should also probably stop masturbating so much with that death grip if you're ever going to get you're baby dick half hard at the first sight of a woman you may possibly have a chance of communicating with. However, most importantly, don't get your hopes up because I'm pretty much everything every woman on earth wants, you're the compromise. I'm strong, sexy, intelligent, hung, affluent, cultured, and I'll be the one you hate, the one you want to be so bad, the one you'll thank in 5-years when you get there and look back on this post and thank me for showing you the things that you daddy never did. I believe in you son, its time to be a man

Ahhh, forum wars. So fun. I think we can all agree that A) This is all a case of "he said she said," B) The CL is fat and wrong wheel drive, and C-Z) It's something we all have in common cause it's an amazing car.

Ignoring the M3 for a moment and just carrying on with another related tangent in this thread, the X5M does have an Achilles heel that perhaps I exploited.

That being the combination of:
1. Being off boost initially, and
2. No aid of launch control or boost build-up to aid offline performance
3. Mass @ 5,332 lbs

I see why there is skepticism and that's fine. I would have it too.

But the X5M just could not move it's 5,300lb's with authority. Being out of the sweet spot of it's powerband @ 65mph and coping with that much mass left it flat footed REPEATEDLY. It's really not that surprising.
Apparently you've never driven a X5M. As you can see from the dyno posted, the torque is pretty much flat across the entire range. With the twin-scroll there is no lag in boost. Second he hits the gas, he's gonna walk away from you. That vehicle is making more than 2x the torque you are at your very peak across his entire RPM range.
