Go Accords go! Up over 12% from last year sales.
I can see the new Civic's aren't as popular, and no wonder they canned the Prelude. They are selling more S2000's than Preludes... hahaha

So what do you think it is? Economy or marketing? June 2000's economy was much more bright than June 2001's. Also, I think Acura has one of the worst marketing dept. in all of the industry. I'm curious to see what the RSX sells like. I still haven't seen one on the road yet.

I think the reason they sold so many more S2000's is because they are much easier to get now than they were last year.
Also, what happens if the CL sales stay at this level? they won't bag it will they?

i dont know, but i am laughing at my dealership,..
when i went for service they played this hard to get game with me, i asked to test drive it right away, and they said they are sold out of ALL RSX's for a month...so i just walked away.
Then the guy, came up to me and says, you know, i just found out we have 1 for a test drive..it was a type S, and red..then i said forget it, i hate red cars...and i said i didnt want to test drive it, not waste my time...then he jumped and said, wait i think we could get our hands a on a silver one too...then i said i want blue, and they had it..HAHA, they told me they were sold out for a month, and they had 3 Type S's ONLY Type S's for sale... fucking liars.

Besides the obvious difference in the economy June 01 vs. June 00, I think the figures through about August '00 will be artificially high because of the "new model" factor. Now, people see CLs everyday on the road and they aren't the cool new thing anymore, even though they aren't dime-a-dozen like 3 series (silver, of course). I doubt it's as much of a slow down as it seems...I think sales just leveled off after several months of new model introduction sales, and now they're a little low because of the economy, pending '02 models, etc. They'll pick up again, but not to June '00 levels barring a significant redesign.

I agree with the synopsis so far. Also, look at the increase of the TL-S sales. I do think that some of those people wanted the CL (P or S), but then when the four-door was available (and the TL was already wildly popular) why shouldn't they have opted for that model. Seems reasonable.
Basically, I think Acura shot the CL in the foot when they came out with the TL-S.

The CL was a new model this time last year, so of course this years sales are lower. Plus with the introduction of the TL-S and the 2002 CL a month or two away, it's no shock that they have fallen.
As for the RSX... I've seen 3 on the road (all Type-S', all black) and 1 red one in my office parking lot. Not too bad considering it just came out. My dealer literally had zero on the lot and said there's a one month wait time, which I believe. Even the one on the showroom floor was sold (I would never leave it on the showroom floor if I bought it).....

I've seen several RSX's on the road already. Saw two on the way home from work last Friday in fact. I must admit that they look much better driving than they did at the LA Auto Show. I hated them then, but actually like them now. Still not sure it's worth that kind of money.
In answer to the "Why CL sales are down"...I have two theories...One is that as much as the politicians want to say there is no recession, there is. When people do not have jobs or extra spending money, they are not going to buy more expensive cars. My second theory (and don't hate me for it) is that the new CL's look too much like the Ford Taurus or a few other cars with that same basic design. I constantly get close to what I think is a CL only to realize it's something else. When cars all start looking aloike, I think sale will go down a bit. At least the 1st Gen Cl's looked unique.
