CLS Replacement, aka "UD"

Althought it's not a coupe it seems that Acura trying to match the BMW line up. Sports sedans will out sell sport coupes. Great move. I just hope the car is put together well. Engine will probably be some variant of the 3.2L v6 in the current CL.

As per vtec.net:

http://www.vtec.net/news/news-item?news_item_id=13078

This past weekend, I received the Spring/Summer 2002 edition of "Crossroads," my local Acura dealer's newsletter. In the section "Product Highlights" it discusses the DN-X, The RD-X and the UD. It says:

"UD: This sports sedan will debut in March, 2003, boasting great performance in an aggressively-styled package. The UD (code-name only at this time) is expected to fill the gap vacated by the now-extinct Integra sedan. Priced less than the TL, this Acura sedan will go head-to-head with the lines of the BMW 3-series, Audi A4 and the Lexus IS. Acura has done a great job keeping this one a secret, so we will have to wait patiently for more details."

I realize this information is nothing new, however this is one more indication of what is to come!

Acura loves to think the TL is up there with the 5-series and such. hehe

sigh.

Im sure this is going to just be an RSX sedan... yet another let down.

Hopefully it is that S2k based sedan tyhats been rumored for like 10 yrs... that would be cool.

Funny you said it so... because I was gonna say the same thing.... as much as I love my TLS, TL will never be like 5-Series and/or E-Class....

Well in true Honda fashion this new car will be based on the Accord -Type R JDM version that sells in Europe which means it might have some like a 2.2i DOHC VTEC with 220hp OR OR OR i've heard that the current type R has an i-4 2.0L ivtec 240HP. I'd be puzzled as to why they'd move away from a v6 but i guess we'll have to see.

I might buy depending how much i had to wind up the engine. As long as it wasn't like the s2000.

It's all up in the air right now. Since the CLS is supposidly dead it'll be interesting to see what Acura decides to do. This new car is supposed to be the 4 door replacement for the Teg coupe but now with CLS gone what will fill the sports coupe segment?????

Remember the RSX-S TypeR is supposed to make it's way over here. That has the 2.0L ivtec 4 that puts out 220hp and 200 ft/lbs of trq!
