My girlfriend's father has a '01 CLS (back when I had my CLS, we called them the twins - same color, year, options, etc..)

Well, he's been having some strange problems that the dealer was unable to fix, and I haven't seen posted here at all, but I was wondering if any of you heard about or had these issues:

- Windshield wipers make a LOUD groaning sound against the glass towards the bottom of the windshield no matter how much rain there is. Dealer said there was nothing that could be done. Seems like BS to me. It seems like an alignment issue.

- Trunk light takes approx 10 seconds to turn on after opening the trunk lid completely.

- Radio mysteriously turns on every once in a while. Nothing was touched on the dashboard.

Both of these seem like some sort of electronic gremlin. Is there a relay that controls both that could be on the fritz?

BTW.. He's still on his first tranny, but his rotors warped recently.

 

1) Windshield wipers: Use some rain-X and the the squeak should go away.
2) trunk: Find the switch for the brake light and spray some DW-40.
3) Radio: I do not know.

 

Is that a Canadian lubricant, we normally use WD-40 around here. :P

 

 

I agree with Nashua on those first two. As for the 3rd problem it would probably be internal. If the radio was turned off and came on by its self I would suspect a faulty internal radio circuit.
