CLS Long Term Test on MotorTrend

Our '99 Acura TL was one of the most popular One-Year-Test fleet vehicles we've ever had. It was great to drive, trouble-free, well-constructed, and a superb value. When we heard Acura was packaging the same goodness into a handsome coupe and offering a 260-hp Type-S variant, we said, "Send one-now! Black over black. (Please.)" You get a lot for the Type-S' base of $30,330, including the aforementioned high output V-6, five-speed SportShift sequential automatic, leather-trimmed interior, power moonroof/windows/doors/locks/seats, Xenon headlights, ABS, sport suspension, and 17-in. wheels. The CL is offered with one option, a DVD-based Nav system, which is included on our car, plus destination and delivery of $480. The only complaint is a shortage of space between the seat cushion and headliner for longwaisted drivers. Otherwise, the engine wails, the car handles beautifully, and there have been no early mechanical problems.

Not enough head room is deffinetly a problem. Had I paid attention to it during my purchasing process, I would have deffinetly gave much more thought to buying a cl.

Me too Big Pimp... I am 6'4" and I got the CL-S after trading in my 01 Mitsu Galant LS... The Mitsubishi was giving me horrible knee problems from the bend I had to accomplish to fit in the car. After deciding to get rid of it, I test drove a 330i, IS300, I30t, and then the CL-S... Somehow, of all those cars, I still ended up with the one with the most uncomfortable driving position. I liked the Acura the best and I thought it was the best deal but not everyone is 5'7" (no offense Spiroh). I fit best in the I30t, then the Beemer...

I don't understand why they make a tilt steering wheel that only tilts like 3 inches... Also, I have never used the power driver seat in my car because I have to keep it all the way back and all the way down. I sure would like to play with all those buttons and gadgets one day!

I wish more cars had telescoping steering wheel, it'd make it easier to sit back

Telescoping steering would be great. I have also felt the gas pedal is way to close as my right leg feels cramped!

What do you guys do..sit with the seats perpendicular? They're called power reclining seats

Adjust the lumbar while youre at it too...
makes it a lot more comfy (the lever on the side)

Telescopic wheel would have been nice, but
it's not a biggie.

oh and another thing about room..its a luxo coupe, not an SUV big-waste-of-space hog

I'm 6'1" and have no problem whatsoever. Obvious question, but do you have your seat as low as it can go?

My seat is as low as it can go... I may be closer to 6'5" now as I haven't measured myself in a long time.

For the person that is 6', you should fit fine. Like I said, I fit, but just not as well as I would like to.

Put the seat to its lowest position, then try raising just the front of the seat. The back will sink down a bit further. Will also give you a bit of a recline and give you a bit more headroom.

You could also move the seat all the way to the front and keep the sunroof open
