Question CLS Clutch Recommendations?

I think that I am in the market for a new clutch. Does anyone have a recommendation for a heavy duty after market model?

I dont think anyone makes an aftermarket clutch for the CL. I work at a clutch shop and i havent found one yet. I know that Exedy and ACT do not make one for the CL. I think u have to get the stock one, but good luck

Stock, or the Comptech unit. The CT being expensive with mixed results. The stock clutch is really very good. I'd stick with that.

is the disk sprung or unsprung? If you have the invoice still, perhaps you can share with the board the part number that clutchmaster assigned it. Do you have any pics of this pressure plate? way cool btw!

You sent in the entire clutch assembly or just the pressure plate? Do you have contact information for them? Many of us are interested in other clutch options!

Let me understand this.

You are using the stock flywheel, ACT 6-puck clutch with a custom pressure-plate?!? Is the pressure-plate just the stock one painted blue... or is it a different design? Because if it is a different design, I am suddenly interested!

If they can make a custom pressure plate for the ACT/stock setup couldn't they also make one for the Comptech lightweight setup as well?

Cool 03 cl-s 6 speed

i got the total package built at CLUTCHMASTERS in rialto california.. ask 4 jose, he is the mgr. there, tell him mike sent you.. they got all my specs. from my original flywheel, clutch disk&pressure plate. they will give you a new pp built at sachs racing and their flywheel is superior to comptechs"i have both",the lightened flywheel is unsprung but the disk is"unless you want to blow your tranny"..WORD OF ADVICE--DO NOT GET THE FULL KEVLAR DISK--MATERIAL IS TOOOOO SOFT AND WEARS OUT FASTER THAN A PAY-LESS SHOES!!!! . anybody in here who says the g35 is quicker is smoking some good sh**!! cl-s 6 sp. on dubs and still smoking the sh** out of infinitys & nissans, even a fewZ's have fell victim to this viscious cl, not to mention those pityfull a** mustang gt's .. i will post pics of my cl-s black on 20" blackouts soon,

Sorry, but all that's been reported by you on this clutch you have is very FUZZY. If this is the type clutch package you have waiting to be installed in case your other one bites the dust, it sucks. clutchmaster - spec clutch parts are a farse. This is nothing more that a stock pressure plate painted blue and advertised as a high performance pressure plate. I'll pass and suggest everyone run far away from this. Good luck though.

Got my clutch checked today and the bad news is that it is toast. A local performance shop suggested the Centreforce clutch. Does anyone have any experience with this clutch?

you can get aftermarket clutch "disks" , but I doubt your "pressure plate" is anything other than the stock unit.

Centerforce doesn't make one for the 03 CLS. At least their website doesn't show it.
Just get a stock unit from www.acuraautomotiveparts.org.

yo thin jim!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sorry to dissapoint you thin jim.. i have my stock pressure plate, you only receive the blue painted pressure plate when you are to cheap and request the factory clutch kit.. the one i received from clutchmasters is STAMPED!! sachs r.d. right on the pressure plate. NOT A STICKER,and the plate is white with a thicker metal face!! sorry to break your heart jim but i have had this setup for over a year and it is far from stock.. that and my years of experience building race engine set-ups and trannys tell me it is far from stock!! and i can bet you pink slips that my cl-s 6sp. will spank the sh** out of what your running, stock clutch really fades when heated up and face RIPS OFF THE RIVETS when you are pushing over 350 stallions to the wheels...comptech clutch IS a factory clutch, except it is sprung and factory is not.. dont get me wrong, i really like comptech products but when there is a product that is superior to theirs i will go with the superior product.. SO PEOPLE,PLEASE DONT LISTEN TO OPINIONATED AND UNINFORMED INDIVIDUALS LIKE "mr. THIN JIM"..you will end up pissed and with less money in your pocket when you find yourself going out and buying the better product anyways.....

clutchmasters kicks a**!! and for those of you who are boosting, get their t6 lightened flywheel like i did, totally kills any turbo lag!! totally makes a difference in boosted or naturally asp. cl-s... their # is (909)877-6800.. ask 4 joze, he builds 4 pro-race teams and knows his sh*t..

Don't be sorry, i'm not dissapointed, I needed a good laugh. Why am I laughing....hmmm my stock pressure plate has "Sachs" stamped into it also. btw, i didn't buy that blue pressure plate either. Glad your enjoying your setup, you by far have the best cls on this board.

I have to correct myself, the stock one doesn't say sachs on it. So, looks like you have the best clutch setup as well as the best cls.

On the 'blue' pressure-plate - it looks like someone took a spray-can and painted it!!! On the other hand if there is some truth to the flywheel + clutch + pressure-plate combo from clutchmasters... that's interesting!

Actually I beg to differ. I don't know what clutchmaster offers so I don't have an opinion on that... yet. However you won't 'rip' the rivets off the stock clutch. I have > 20K miles on a 420whp CL-S and am using the stock unit!

The blue pressure plate was a pic that Spec Clutch sent me. Remember when someone a while back posted a pressure plate and clutch on ebay? I investigated it and had them send me a pic. Somewhere along the line, I thought spec was associated with clutchmaster, looks like I was wrong.
*
as for the person running the custom pressure plate, that's great news for us if it's real. To have a custom one made would cost muchooo bucks. I'd like to see some pics though before I become a believer. I have found getting a disk is no problem or having the stock disk set up with a different material is no problem as well.
*
I'd like to know what the clamping force is on this custom pressure plate, do the experts who have chimed in above have the info?
