I know this is the 2G CL forum. But the only reason I even learned what a CL was was because of quality and reliability of a base '08 TL my wife and I bought in July of 2008. It served as my wife's daily driver from July of '08 until we purchased the S5 in August of '16. It has been relegated to "spare car" status, but still retains the title of "Best car I ever owned", and I have owned a lot of cars. Anyway I spent the last day and a half thoroughly detailing the exterior and it still cleans up pretty good. It had been quite a while since I had cleaned it so well. Hope everyone had a great weekend. Had the seats recovered in 2018 All the toys put away after a long weekend
I was hoping to find a set of NOS ones but they just aren't around. These are only the rears and are CL specific but I have an idea so I bought them. Stay tuned

if you replaced the garage door you could literally fit 8 vehicles in there.

Unfortunately the garage is not wide enough to accommodate a 2nd lift or even squeeze a car safely next to the lift. You can get a car in there, but it leaves no room to get out or get around the cars. The builder of the house had to shave 2 foot off the width of the garage even after getting permission to set it back 15 feet from where it was supposed to sit. So its 22' wide instead of the 24' originally designed. It works for me. and the open area gives me space to hang out or work on things.
105K. Never wrecked, still has its original windshield (I consider this amazing), The brakes are still original (This is probably even more amazing). When we bought the car and they introduced us to the service manager, he told us that these cars are hard on brakes and would probably need brakes at 35K. Guess it depends on how you drive them. You can't see it in the pictures but the clear bra we had installed 2 or 3 weeks after we bought it is getting pretty beat up. I guess it's doing its job. And to top it off my wife ran over some kind of heavy guage wire last night in the S5. 2 holes in tire. Was hoping to wait till fall to buy new tires, but that's happening friday now. So shes back in Ol' faithful (the TL) for a few days. Its good to have that TL around.

S5 Peelers are a hot commodity to the S4 community of you ever want to sell them for a different set of wheels.
I love them...if mine hadn't been so badly beat up, I would NOT have aftermarket wheels on.

my last house had a 26 wide by 22 deep garage and MAN did I love that thing.
I could have, but I noticed the inside of the tread has some cord starting to show in one spot. That puts this tire in "May Pop" land. Damn negative camber. Anyway I've come to realize that most things happen for a reason. The reason this happened was to know that this tire was no longer safe.

I recall pushing the limit on the Audi and hitting 150ish as I passed someone on a pretty rural highway here where people go fast.
The following week I found out 2 of my tires had bubbles on the inside. I'm dumb and lucky.
Rockstar: It's always better to be lucky than good, as luck trumps skill every time. I've survived nearly 60 years due to this phenomenon. There is one corollary to it all though. That is: The luck that trumps the skill can begood or bad. Got new tires and alignment on S5 yesterday. Gonna give the Michelin pilot sport AS 3+ tires a try. Think I'm gonna have the wife drive the TL a few more days as I gave the it its annual BG44K fuel system cleaner when I fueled it up.
6 weeks ago I had no idea I would be buying another car. But something happens to my brain on the 3 summer holidays. I bought the CL on Labor day weekend. I've purchased old Oldsmobiles on Memorial Day and Independence day weekends. Anyway, back in May my daughter said she was thinking about buying a new car due to the plethora of incentives brought on by covid 19. So I do some research and make some suggestions to her (she still hasn't done anything). In the meantime to kill some time my wife and I start looking at new cars. Her knees are giving her problems and the S5 is getting harder and harder for her to get in and out of. Anyway we are driving through the lot of the local audi dealer and she points at one of the SUVs and says what about something like that. I told her no SUVs on my watch, but we could look for a wagon (lower center of gravity, better handing, sportier, imo). Not many choices for wagons. The Volvo V60 or V90 and The Audi Allroad (A4 or A6). The V90 and A6 wagons are out of the range of our W2s. Of course nothing in Wichita to even look at, so I started doing research and locating of said wagons to go see if we even liked them and they would be a good fit for her. Fathers day weekend we went up to KC (3 hour drive) to look at 2 A4 Allroads (2017 older sheet metal vs a 2020), and a V60. The V60 had lots of bells and whistles, but was not that comfortable, didn't stop very well and was actually kind of hard for my wife to get out of (due to the bolstering of the seat). We looked at the 17 and 20 Audis side by side and she liked the new sheet metal better. The 20 which didn't have sport seats was much easier for her to get in and out of, and she liked the color (Terra Gray). This was unfortunate, because there are still 19s out there that are deeply discounted. We liked everything about the 2020 car in KC except for the black interior (didn't hate it, just wanted to see if we could find one with Gray interior and walnut trim). Back to the search. I could only find 3 2020 A4 Allroads in terra gray with gray interior (W/O sport seats) that had the cold weather package and Bang and Olufsen sound on a nationwide search. I tried to buy one from California and everything was good until they tried to gig me on shipping. So after a thorough search of audi dealers throughout the country I told my wife that we may have to "settle" on the black interior and gray oak trim. On July 4th a deal was struck on the Allroad we initially looked at in KC. We picked it up yesterday (July 11). This weekend is the 12 year anniversary of our '08 TL purchase (July 12, 2008) which was the last "new" car we bought. Since it hadn't been on a road trip for a while we drove it up to pick up our new Allroad. Hoping everyone is well.
You ever thought of lowering the height of an Acura MDX.........those are AWD too and drives nice as well
Thanks for input. The reasons I don't like SUVs is that they look so "boxy" This is due to overall body height from rocker panels to roof. It also creates a higher center of gravity. Lowering would not change the boxy appearance only center of gravity. Also I would never do any mods to a brand new car that might void part of the warranty. Besides that, I'm a wagon guy. Thanks, I love all of my cars. I have a lift if that's what you mean by "storage shelf". Handy for storage, but also handy for working on the cars. After I spent 20+ hours rolling around on the floor of my garage getting the Vista Cruiser ready for the Olds national show last summer, I decided that I needed a lift. That weekend was really hard on my tired old body. Got the lift in January. A contractor friend of mine then came and modified my ceiling so that I could raise the lift all the way. The ceiling remodel ended up costing more than the lift.
