Clear Tail Lights

Can anyone tell me where to get the clear tail lights for my 2001 CL-S. I have been looking everywhere for those things with no luck. The ones that I would like to find are similer to the Lexus IS 300. That would look sweet on the CL-S.

Let me know what you come up with!!!

Thanks in advance.
Jason

Dude, I'll be the first to say it: I don't want anything on my car that resembles an IS300. Why would you want you car to look like the IS, the ricey Civics, the ricey Neons, and the ricey Integras. Our CL's are classy, not ricer wannabes.
Now if they had something like the new TL's with the white on top and the red on the bottom, that's another story.

As for now nobody makes rear clear corners or altezza lights for our CL-S. Hopefully, someone will make rear lamp like one of those in the new TL-S.

Now in no way is the Lexus IS 300 a ricey looking car....it's classy as is the CL-S. As for the lights on the back of the CL-S I think that it would give it character....not to be confused with the ricey Civics and Neons. This is a discussion that we could debate for hours but there is really no need to. Your point is taken though....No hard feelings I hope.

I thought the new CL-S (2002 model) will have tail lights like the new TL (white on top with red on the bottom.) Someone here mentioned that as one of the changes from the 2001 to 2002 CL-S. Not confirmed by me. Just a heads up.

IMO, there is nothing classy about the IS300... It's a pure sports sedan and more sport than sedan. There is nothing to the look that would isntill a spark of class in me... The CL is class. The IS is cool, dun get me wrong, the cars look doesn't do it for me.

I would have to take a look at them, Out taillights are smaller, so not sure if it would look as good. I would love to find a true all LED Taillight. Instead of ours as the looks like LED.

haha I agree, putting on Altezza-style tail lights will completely kill the car's looks anyways. I like them the way they are, all red.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...... OMG, this has to be one of the funniest things I've read on this board in a very long time (nothing personal). Don't get me wrong, I like the IS300, I even looked at it before deciding on the TL-S, but it's not even close to the CL-S as far as class.... it's a modified Toyota. You could compare the ES300 with the CL and CL-S, but the IS300 compares more with the RSX-S as far as looks and performance. I also think you'll never ever see Altezza lights for the CL or CL-S. If they didn't make them for the First Gen (which didn't), I don't anticipate they'll make them now.....

Sometimes I wish the IS300 came with a 260hp vtec engine, luxury interior, and a decent auto tranny.
I love the way it looks with a bodykit (like that blue one NOVA raced).

For those who would like the Altezza style tailights here are a few mandatory mods that you will require:
Powered by Honda stickers (Larger the better)written in Japanese.
13" Wheels with an offsett that will make them stick out of the wheel wells a minimum of 9 inches, gold spokes, wrapped in over inflated white wall tires.
Resinator tail pipe tips.
Super touring style wings.
Side marker lights with blue bulbs, wired into the parking lights(not the turn signals).
Top it off with a trip to Pep Boys where you can fill a shopping cart with every cheesey auto accessory that your 26% fixed rate credit card will buy.

I bought this car for for its elegance, and understated agrresive ability. Now there are people who want it to look like a Civic or a Focus.
How much does a guy have to spend to separate himself from kids whos only taste is in there mouths.

Maybe someone can fork out money and get the tail lights customize. Get the white lights just like the TL and fit it in our car.

And I thought that this was a nice forum and that we could have just replys with out the smart ass comments.

As all of you people know....ACURA is RICE......what more do you need to know about that. The CL-S is just a step above and alot nicer.

As you can very well see this is my First RICE CAR that I have owned. I am use to the Big V-8's, the ones that have the real HP not the little V-Tech that has to wait until 3500 rpm's before it starts to kick in. Dont get me wrong I love the Acura and I will probally keep it a lot longer than I will keep my other cars....but it is still RICE......But thats ok with me because it's a sweet car with or with out the clear tail lights!!!!!

BTW If it will help you guys sleep better tonight then keep up the pop shots.....I love to reply to them.

Screw the clears. What the CL lacks is a nice body kit....like the one on the SEMA CL type S car. I think that just totally makes the car! What we all need to push (all the aftermarket companies) for is body kits!!

Didn't somebody used to have Photoshopped pictures of TL-S-esque cleared rear lights and even the *gasp* Altezza lights?

Yea defintely do not get the ALtezzas unless you jsut want to devalue ur car. Looks so ugly. Specially on teh IS too. I think it actually looks better on some otehr cars than the IS..but still not much of a fan of them... I DO however hate the stupid PINK inour taillights. Wish tehre was a way to clear that or something.

You know I really think this post originally started out as a person asking a question about an alternative to the stock tailights. So instead of flaming the poor guy just answer his question. There are currently none on the market for this vehicle though I would suggest that if you contact companies like APC Carboy etc. you may get the ball rolling for you.As for you guys flaming the taillights .....c'mon give it a rest.Jens

As most members here could tell you, there's a huge difference between a Japanese car and a "ricer".

The stock CL-S is the former, not the latter. It's a nice, classy car that happens to be made by a Japanese company (in the US).

IMHO, the clear tail lights (a'la the IS300) look tacky and "ricey", but that's just my opinion. Take it for what it's worth.

Congrats on your new CL. Speaking from experience (having owned 3 Acuras) it should serve you well. Don't mind some of these fellas; they're not always this quick to flame. As you may have gathered, the IS300 just seems to push a few of the wrong (right?) buttons around here.

As far as the tail lights you're interested in, it may be a while before they are available. As someone else mentioned, folks have been clamoring for a body kit for a while, but it hasn't happened yet. This is possibly related to the fact that this car (unlike the TL/Inspire) is not available overseas, and appearance aftermarket folks don't see enough of a potential market. Note that AFAIK, clear *front* corners are still not available, and they are much less controversial.

Side note: the term "rice" means different things to different people. In some circles, it refers to any car of Asian origin. IMO, it originally referred to "posing" by having something on your car to (1) make it look or sound faster than it is, or (2) make it look like it has something it doesn't (witness the non-Hondas with VTEC/V-Tech plates or stickers).

Bottom line: can't please everyone, so do what makes you happy with your car. Anyhow, good luck and enjoy your car.

I'm keeping the tails just the way the came, I am glad that even after all my mods, my car very similar to the way it did on the day I bought it, only a slight rake difference, but boy is it fun to drive now!

This is the type of stuff that made me not buy a Honda for several years....I thought that the people who owned Acura's would be a step above the rest, but this is not the case at all. There are assholess no matter where you go or what you do, that is something that we will just have to deal with and move on.

Thanks TypeR for your replys.....good man!!
