Clear Out Question
Clear Out Question
Right now i have taken apart my entire bumper and taken out the headlights but I am having such a hard time removing the silicon. I have already done this process with my friend's civic but it took us alot of force and time to remove the silicon. I heard from various people that you just heat the entire thing and it comes right off. But my question is how did you heat the entire thing without the silicon cooling off again or rehardening...I am even using a heat gun. It seems like right hwen i am done with like 1/4 of the thing, and move on to another part to heat, the part i just heated starts to cool off. Thanks everyone for the input

thank alot x3.2clsx, I guess ill just keep on heating. Was just weird cuz i noticed people who have done it are just like heat it up and remove,
but when i was doing it on my friends civic we were heating and pulling for hours.
As for you hollywood,
to make things simple, what you have to do is remove your bumper, first remove the plastic cover located on top of your bumper held up butr alot of small plastic things you jsut pop off with a flathead, then under that there are 3 screws, be very careful cuz i broke one of hte 3 screws b/c acura uses cheap ass screws that just break off, spent so many hours to cut it off,, a big pain in the ass, THEN, you have to get 2 screws connecting th bumper from teh side of the cars, located near the wheel, then there are many random screws, nuts and plastic pins holding the bumper in palce at the bottom of the car, just take alook and its all self explanatory, THEN you gotta yank the bumper off carefully, mine was kinda stuck, but just be careful, then after that you just find the 4 screws holding the headlight assemply on on both sides, so 4 per headlight, and hten after that you just go and take a heat gun, or iguess a blowdrying woudl work and melt along the edges of hte headlights, until the silicon is melting and you pull it carefully apart, the glass that is....and then just remove the orange strip, and take out the old silicon and put new ones in, make sure its all sealed up and hten put everything back together. Hope that helps.

I posted up directions a little while ago. i think its in the FAQ now. What I did was heat one section (3-4 inches) and start prying into the silicone. Once its broken through, run the screwdriver or wedge hard in the other direction while heating it too. It seems easier with two people but I did it alone. email me if you have any other questions: langjae@aol.com
