Clear diffusers for our Headlights (revisited)
Alright guys, I just heard from Jeff Shahan today about making clear diffusers for our cars (01-03 CL & CLS). What this means is having a carbon copy made of the below amber diffusers that we now have but produced in opaque clear.
This has already been done for the Honda S2000 and here is an example:
The cost to make a single pair alone would be an extraordinary amount of around $500 for making the mold to begin with. We can, however get these into production with 15-20 committed buyers to make this happen.
The S2000 guys are paying $ 95 a set, and Jeff sees from the amber piece I already showed him these should be less then that.
A firm price I will know soon so, for now at least assume it will be between 50- 95 dollars a set.
I know that some of the below were interested in the prior thread based upon the $95 price:
peiqinglong (in if cheaper)
nate'sCLS
WiLd~CL~TYPS-@SS (waiting on final price)
ch1276
soopa (wants smoked or cleared)
JakeCL (in if the "price was closer to $10...")
lou (in if price range in $50-$60)
mc222@aol.com
Collective27
oonowindoo (more or less?)
All current Interested Buyers please voice your interest on this thread.

On ours it would kinda because you have the clear reflector right above.

First is for looks, many like myself found the idea of clearing and removing the piece alone to look "unfinished" and wide open. Not the factory look we had hoped for.
Another thing that comes to mind is function, If all you do is remove the diffuser, will the small bulb perform the same without the piece in front that previously Diffused, or dispersed the light?
Thirdly, in my state for example, it is technically "illegal" for there not to be a reflective piece in the front of a car (amber or clear).
Check out http://www.s2ki.com/ and search "clear diffusers" for more info and pics.

Although it seems like a big undertaking, if you just follow some of the better instructions (ie: the baking method and keeping the original sealant on) and take it step by step, they should be well worth the effort.
If it still semms like to much for you, why not ask someone you know that has done them before.
If your worried about fogging... have you checked your stock lights lately... I checked mine and they fogged a little even w/o being cleared. When Its cold and they have been on a while they seem to fog.

Does the amber on the headlights of the CL just come off or is it like civics where you have to crack it? Sorry I just got into the CL cause my integra was just stolen recently and Im crazy about this car.

I can just about guarantee you would prefer the look of clear over amber on 03 headlights. You will see for yourself when they are in

I would expect them to be legal. The legality issue is not as big as the other two with me, but I'm guessing that your state is like here and it is legal to have amber or clear Reflectors in front ( I chose clear!! ) .

I am talking about the reflective piece in front of the bulb and Not the bulb itself.
I'm sure you have seen an M3 where you are, and it has a clear/opaque lens on over the signal lamps & an orange bulb behind it. Well it came that way factory and it is perfectly legal to have a clear reflector with orange bulb, otherwise why would the 2003 Acura CL have clear tails?
No where in this thread did I bring up bulbs did I, sorry for any confusion if I did.
