Clear Bras

Just bought my 01 CL-S, and working for an Infiniti dealer, I've got the hookup for accessories...

Our Clear Bra guy will install the 3M kit for me for $125 installed... this is the hood and fender/mirror kit as well as the door handles.

Saw some people were doing the lights, and the bumper cover as well...

What are people here using?? Do the lights get all marked up after time?? How about the front bumber?? :o Is it worth doing the these two items as well as the normal kit?

Want to keep this car looking nice for a couple years, and it's black...

Suggestions??

I'd get the whole kit. I have the hood, bumper, mirrors, fenders, headlights, custom door handles, and trunk lid.

The best investment I have ever made.

Plus mine comes with a 4 year $1000 headlight replacement warranty.

Check sig below.

Do the headlight covers change the way the lights look?? Would they look 'cloudy' with the bra over them??

Called my installer - he says he'll do the WHOLE package meaning hood, front of fenders, entire bumper, headlamps, foglights, door handles and mirrors for $450.00

That was more than I was going to spend - but, everyone seems to say get the full pkg....

ALSO - does it make any difference that there are already a couple very small nicks in the front bumper and hood?? Guess I could call and ask installer...

Did anyone put their bras on after a couple years of ownership? Wonder if it makes a difference...

Get the full meal deal. It is so worth it. I've driven across the US twice and saved myself so much angst because of the protectant layer. Why protect your hood if you are going to get rock chips and bug juice all over the bumper?

You can apply wax, etc to the Clearbra just like your paint.

Do you need to tape the edges when you wax, not to get any wax build up?

No, but it might depend on the wax. I use P21S and there's no build-up. As the clear bra flexes it's good to use some cleaner to remove the gum from the adhesive so it doesn't attract dirt.

Does it attract dirt on the edges only? Which kit / brand did you get?

Just at the edges where there is leftover adhesive. This is a result of the material shrinking a little bit as it sets in.

This is interesting. I always wonderd about these clear bras. I had some of the same questions about them such as can you wax the area. Questions answered.

Yes, actually is highly recommended you wax them to preserve them just as you do the paint. To remove buildup all you need is a Q-Tip.

Kepp it clean. It stains. Wipe it down with orange cleaner often. Bug goo will stain it if left on.

That's why I didn't get it. Way too many bug guts in FL. Just a 50 mile trip down the HW at 70 will get your front end covered. I got the regular bra for road trips.

Oh yea.

Automotive Appearance Pros, our clear bra installer, just called me back and told me since we do so much biz with him (we put one on every single new G35 sedan in-stock) that he'd do my 01 CL-S with the entire kit (lights, bumper, mirrors, hood, door handles, and fogs) for $300.

I'm in. The kit was ordered... install is next week!

Thx for all the feedback!

$300 is a great deal for the entire hookup. Let us know what you think when it's installed.
