i just cleaned my aem cold air intake filter . oh what fun . i put it in when the car had aprox. 2000 miles now the car has 14,671 . when do u guys clean your filter how many miles do u wait......................

 

every 20k miles, did yours seem very dirty??

 

Just cleaned mine, and it was dirty as hell! Been about 20k miles since last cleaning.

 

I clean mine at least once a year, if not every 6 months. Doesn't take long and it's cheap so I don't mind doing it more often.

 

Cleaned mine after about 15k miles, damn was that baby black.

 

I clean mine about every other oil change, or about once per year.

I inspect them about twice per year.

 

I have the K&N in my IceBox and I just cleaned it after about 15k miles. I had about 6 cicadas stuck in the air filter from over the summer

 

I guess the filter is working well then.

 

 

I use to do it every 15k...but now I wait every 30k since I've read time and time again that a dirty K&N filters better than a clean one.

BTW...before we start a I currently have 73k miles one mine.

 

i was thinking of cleaning mine out. i did not install it though, so i am not sure what the best way to remove the filter is. do you guys pull the whole thing out from the engine bay, or just take the filter out from the wheel well? what seems to be the easiest method?
