Unhappy CL Split In Half In A Crash

CL Split In Half In A Crash-6tgja82.jpg

OAKLAND (KRON) — A 21-year-old is dead after a high-speed car accident in Oakland late Wednesday night.

The crash happened around 11:30 p.m. on MacArthur Avenue near High Street, police said.

Officers said the cars were speeding when the car hit a tree on 35th Avenue, according to police.

A passenger, 20-year-old Elijah Mayo, miraculously walked away without injuries, he told KRON 4’s Averi Harper.

Mayo told Harper that the victim is 21-year-old Jameil Brown who was driving when he lost control of car. Brown was ejected from the car and killed.

The force from the crash split the car in half and scattered debris all over the street.

MacArthur Avenue is closed between Maybelle Avenue and High Street is closed due to the police investigation. There is no estimated time when the streets will reopen.

It is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident.

Oakland Police Department is at the scene investigating. They plan on using surveillance video from shops along the street to piece together what happened.

Dam.
Even though the cl aint a race car
In the wrong hands and a 145+ limiter it can be deadly fairly easily.
Before you guys do top speed runs take a look at those pics.

Car vs tree usually doesn't end well. He must have been flying for that size of debris field.

The side of the car is also one of the weakest. I'm not surprised the car was ripped in half.

The passenger is one lucky guy. Miraculous that one person gets killed and the other walks away. He's likely going to be scarred for life though. Poor guy.

ive never been a fan of excessive speed on public roads, getting to 10 or 15 over faster than others maybe, but double and tripling speed limits is asking for trouble. sad though.

True, but these cars are heavy and seem to be built like tanks, based off some of the wreck stories I've heard around here. Still shocking it would tear the car apart like that..

lots of speed will tear a car like that. there is a TL accident thread in the 3G section that shows the car literally split right down the middle

ahh here it is

Yea before I installed the AEM I hit 152 on speedometer & had about 1k left in 5th gear & lots on 6th.

I'm sure it'll do more b/c it gets there rather quickly but now i have 2 kids & don't really have the balls to top it out since I should be around for them.

Those thinking they're hitting 140mph or 150mph+ should know if they're getting there their speedos are off a good deal. The faster you go, the less accurate the speedo is. In truth you were likely doing closer to 120, maybe 130.

honestly, does it really matter at that point? You're still dead, regardless.

Either way, I thought that was only true for motorcycles.

Wow didn't really know base 3G TL can hit 150mph?! Seems a bit optimistic....

Anyway, at that point you gotta be very concerned about your tires. Usually your all season tires are not gonna last at those speeds safely for very long (doubt they are rated up that high)....and likely contributing factor in super high speed crashes.

Negative.

You're absolutely right about it being off, but not 30mph.
