I dont understand why people buy a luxo cruising coupe and try to turn it into a race car. There are so many other cars that are much better suited to do this to. Our car is HEAVY , Its a luxery car , why are so many people tring to turn it into a rocket. You have to put so much money into it just to hit 13's in th 1/4 mile. I don't THINK you van make this car do 12's no matter what u do, and if you do and have a auto trans then say goodbye to that tranny!

my plan is to hit low 13s to high 12s and only spending 5k to get their. i bought the car for $1800 so its not like i fucked up. and u dont see cl run 13 or lower. i want to be different. not like every civic their that has a turbo and completely stripped running 11-12s

Track car right? Take out the rear seats. Replace the driver and passenger seat with racing buckets. Take out the spare tire, jack and tools. Remove the molded carpet in the trunk. If you feel like going really wild, pull all the carpet and dry ice the sound deadening. That stuff is surprisingly heavy. Remove radio and all components. Again, if this is truely a track only car, remove all the climate control bs; fan, ducting, a/c compressor, evaporator, condensor, lines, the whole nine. If money permits, pull the rear glass and install lexan, and remove the sunroof and replace with a cap of some sort (you can make a CF one, fiberglass one, or even just weld it up.
Most of that sttuff is free. Keep in mind that racing buckets can cost upwards of a grand.

3250 is well within reach.
replace:
-carbon fiber hood and trunk
-battery
-wheels/tires
-front brake kit
-suspension
-intake
-full exhaust
-3 piece pulley set
-single din radio
-replace rear deck with cardboard covered in black fabric
remove:
-floor mats
-all trunk lining
-spare/tools
-engine bay covers
-cruise control module & cable
-windshield washer tank/pump/lines
-heat shields on underbody
-front/rear brake dust shieldso
-maintain half tank of gas
remember, almost all aftermarket parts weigh less than factory parts. doing all of the above should remove close to 200lbs and also maintain a stock look and safety until you can dedicate it to track.

im not planning on making it a full track car. just what i can remove for the track
i took out the sound denoting from my tl-s and it was quite heavy when u pick it up all at once. planning on making something for the sunroof too. but i want to keep everything but the glass and make a cf replacement so it can still slide open. not planning on removing any ac/heater stuff.

I have been on this forum since this car came out in march 2000 and people did the 3.5 swap comptech supercharger, headers, intake, exhoust and still did not break 13..
Then they realized this IS NOT A RACE car and sold it and moved on to something lighter with more potential.. You will get wiser as you get older and move on also!

best of luck bro, i had a s/c cl and was not able to break into the 12s due to tire spin/crappy tires. Closest I got was a 13.2. Evo broke 12s couple wks ago, but they are 2 totally different cars

i havent been here very long, but despite my age, i have built many hondas and have more hands on knowledge and experience than 60% of the people on the forum. added i am studying mechanical engineering at FSU. from all of the research i have done on this forum, please let tell me if i have somehow missed a historical thread like that, but NO ONE has completed a 3.5L Turbo. i read some people making into the high 3's for whp. CL-S6 made 380 running lean on stock internals. i think with internals/ bigger turbo he would easily hit 430+whp which should be enough to break into high 12s if axles hold up, however it might not be feasible for 5k including the car... i agree w/ phee^ dont bash on someone when we dont see you getting your hands dirty trying to make some history.

^ my bad 09.
im planning on boosting around 10-11psi max with stock internals and looking to get over 400whp and over 350 wtq. (its been done once)
i know tracking will be a big problem, gonna run slick and hope for the best.
i went with a vis cf hood. payed $580 shipped ($150 just to ship the thing).
one thing i have about sc is that they take away power to make power. the most ive seen a cl/tl get was 80whp out of a sc. and for the price of one its not worth it.
the car is not included in the 5k limit. the turbo is already big enough for me to boost up wards of 45psi (but i wont). turbo lag will be a problem, got that solved with a 75-100 shot nitrous from 2000-4500ish rpm to help it spool.

^^^ u shuld be able to hit 13s easy. My boy ran 13.3 with intake, headers, exhaust, pulley, and a bunchy of port & polish work and drag radials in his 03cls6. Shouldnt be an issue really. Hell he made 13.7 with just intake, headers and no exhaust. I ran 13.9 in my recently deceased auto TLS 13s are easily in reach just have to know how to drive and launch and mod. Good luck.

I am not bashing anyones will to try or work.
I'm just letting you know I have been on this forum since day one even before it was acurazine when it was 260hp.com and I have seen ALOT of people try to turn this car into a 1/4 monster with little success.
I am just trying to save you time and energy if you think you can muster under 13 with this car. I love to go on this forum and see the crazy things with there cars and am not discourging anyone from doing it, just letting you know from the 9 years on this forum that many have tried!

but i have to rebute with the fact that a-lot of developments have been made in the passed nine years.
another member here put down well over 300 HP in his 6 speed CL running relatively low boost.
it seems like rajca is planning on forged internals with low compression and high boost.
A 3g TL-er known as typ-s09 ran 13's stock just from excellent shifting. he was in a base model 6 speed tl. it is common knowledge that an auto type-s 2g tl is just as fast as a base model 3g tl. so one can conclude that a 6 speed cl is just as fast as a 6 speed base 3rd gen.
with the right tune, the right tires, and the right shifting and boost. the cl can be a mid to high 12 second car.
just a thought

back on topic. ill make a new thread on what i have removed for the track when i run NA.
spare tire:28lbs, small jack and tools:7lbs. total 35lbs
spare tire carpet/wood cover: 8lbs
so if anyone want to strip the entire trunk they can remover a good 50-55lbs.

Haha, turbo'd I really don't see why this car couldnt get into the 12s. And thats with full interior. Once you strip it and run drag radials at the least I definately don't see why you couldnt get into the 11s. Just work on your 60ft.
