CL-S vs. TL-S which is quicker?
I know we are not suppesed to magazine race, but I found it odd that c&d and motortrend got 0-60 times for the tl-s at 6.2 & 6.3. However, road and track has the tl-s at 7.0. Motortrend has the cl-s at 6.4 I believe and c&d was about 6.8. Basically, I was wondering if the tl-s and cl-s are geared the same and how far apart are they in weight. Does anyone have any opinions on which one is actually quicker. I would think the cl-s would be faster than the tl-s because of weight and the extra 2 doors. Please note I am only speaking about the AUTOMATIC tranny. So what are your thoughts and experiences on this? Thanks!

I am not trying to start anything, I was just curious to see what everyone thought. Basically, I just want to know if the gearing in the auto tranny is the same in both cars and how much the weight difference is. I know it all depends on the driver and so forth, but I just wanted to get a feel for how quick they really are. I have only driven a cl-s auto and 6speed, but not a tl-s. Thanks for your input though.

Wow... the age old debate..... again.
The weight difference is pretty close... I think it's about 100 - 150 pounds or so. Not too sure about that. Speed wise... they should be within a couple of tenths of each other.
Although I had heard that the TL-S is faster after sunset b/c we have real fogs.... not 100% positive on that one.... only about 98% :P

that's right, here we go AGAIN..... Cls should be a tick faster because of the lower weight, however it's mostly depends on the driver.

The TLS is wayyyy slower. And you know that it should be, it weights about a ton more, and engine has about 30 hp less.
I also hear that their tranny blowz after about 10k miles, unlike super strong tranny in the the CLS.... :wackit:

CL-S hands down now that we have a manual.
if its auto vs. auto it should be fairly the same. but there are two factors
1. tl is a little heavier
2. tl has a 17X6.5inch rim vs. our 17X7inch so i guess weight of rotating mass could play a factor
