anyone with a cl-s going to ross docks on sunday? we can clear up any misunderstandings on the way

btw: the cl-s auto is no match (stock for stock) against a 3g tl-s. from a stop i put about a car and a half on a dude(could've pulled more but i shut down, can't afford a ticket).

i do agree with a good launch a tl-s MIGHT have to hawk the cl-s 6 down,(tl-s will hawk it down)but i believe top end the tl-s will win hands down....

Read what everyone is saying, they are comparing a MODDED CL-S to a stock 07 TL-S. I don't think anyone is assuming otherwise.
I think everyone is comparing stock vs stock.

Higher redline, lighter weight.

Hard to get any more ponies out of them - and parts are expensive.
Clutch is a must. - Motor must be dropped to change it though.

I'm 6'2''/250. It's snug. If you're taller than that - go sit in one first.

Great cars - and won't kill the bank. I bought mine used in 05 for $17 - think I owe like 8 on it now or something - with only 52k on the clock...
How do you fit in it? I'm 6'3" 225lbs and I couldn't even get my leg underneath the steering wheel or else I'd be driving one right now. You carry around a jar of vasoline in the car or something?

I Live in SoCal and the closest track is 1 hour and a half away. I dont think i want to drive that distance to prove u guys wrong (i live in downtown LA). And yeah, maybe i cant put buslenghts on the CL-S in a straight line but im pretty sure ill pull at least 2 cars and rape it on the handling department.
My CL-S had TEIN Coilovers and still handled like a boat. There are also countless features that the CL-S doesnt have.
The CL-S is old and outdated, it cant even hang with G35's (if both stock).
I think they look ugly, but thats just my 2 cents.

An hour and a half is nothing esp. if its a fun day at the track. Still can't understand you man.

Yea the CL-S is 4-6 years old now but it still holds up with 90 percent of the new cars on the road and thats what I love about it. (By the way your wrong it will keep up with G35's stock easily cause I did it plenty. My buddy had one (2004 G35)) I bought mine for $18,000 certified two years ago and only owe $5,000 now. Yea I could go out and buy a $38,000 car but I don't want to. I have a house and cool vacations to spend my money on . I'm happy with my 6 yr old car and the performance it has...even if its not quite as fast as your 2007 TL-S. Also to be fair your going to lose your butt on buying a 2007 car. I will prob. go out and buy a 2007 certified TL-S in two years and spend half as much as you did. Of course thats if I want a 4 door grocery getter. Say how fast is your TL-S between grocery stores?

I love the new TL-S - with the 6 speed and the A Spec - Nice Car

I gotta Agree with cbus here though. I just bought an 03 CL-S 6 Mani in beautiful, untainted condition for $15,000 with 48k on it. It's still in factory warranty - and being of the Honda pedigree (and minus that slushbox) I know it will be problem free until long after I've gotten bored with it and traded it on something else.

I've picked as many fights as I can with the CL in recent weeks. No problems keeping up with a newer G35. No problems wasting a newer 3.25i. Ass handed to my by an M5 - but hey, choose your battles....hehehe

Having driven the TL with the 6 speed - and the CL - I think they're pretty comparable - the TL being a little more crisp (but it was a new car)

Not worth an additional $25,000 crisp by any means though. A car as nice as the CL 6 mani for $280 a month. Can't beat that.

If you're talking 1/4 mile times - I think the stock CL orTL would have it's hands full with an XLE Camry 6 auto....

The power gains we get from headers, intake and exhaust are enough to decimate anything competitively priced though.

we all know that the CLS will meet or beat the TL2005-2006 (standard model) and that the TL-s should at least in theory beat it..... Stock for stock....?

i actually have a little bit of an update below. i recently posted a vid of my AT CL-S with I/H/P vs. a 6 spd CL-S w/I and showed how even we were in all of our runs.

somewhere in this thread, i said that a 6 spd CL-S would be fairly close or even to an AT 3G TL-S.

it turns out that the member with the 3G TL that recorded our black CL-S run recently traded in for the 3G TL-S. he installed his AEM CAI. we made a few runs and we both agreed that he pulled an average of about half a carlength. he pulled the most from a dig. he would pull to get the lead initially, but i would stop and hold him there at the top of second. he tried both just running in D5 and also using the shifters. i expected him to pull a bit more. both of us are AT and would have good traction on our launches.

we recorded some video but, i'll let him post them when it's possible for him to. his username is sandiegodrive and i'll direct him to this thread.

alright fellas. here is the video i promised. in the first run, i for some reason or other hesitated to get on it after i sounded off the three honks. so i just stopped him and held him to his lead. in the second run, i pull on him a bit since he redlined for a quick second.

Nice runs Sun Diego, however, i was talking about stock for stock. Your CL-S has intake headers and pulleys and the TL-S has only an intake. I think stock for stock the CL-S wont be able to keep up at all. The intake on the TL-S only adds 5 hp compared to ur mods that add up to 30-35 whp.

i too was talking about stock for stock with this scenario: stock 3G TL-S vs. stock 6 spd CL-S. seeing as i've already proven that the theory that an AT CL-S w/I/H = stock 6 spd CL-S, you can see use the idea that i am the equivalent of a 6 spd CL-S with a crank pulley which gives gains equal to or less than an intake on a 3G TL-S (which is what we saw here). so let's say my pulley offsets his intake and assume they are both a stock 6 spd CL-S and a stock AT 3G TL-S.

i think you'll see what i mean. as i have said somewhere in this thread, after reading around, i knew it would be a close match. which this was. the 3G TL-S just edges the 6 spd CL-S with it's gained lead off of the line because of it's higher torque thanks to the 3.5L V6. after seeing the new TL, i now want a new car.

Indeed, it does look like he got you off the line but you held your own afterwards. Nice runs.

^thanks. we had a few more runs not shown in the video. he would pull a little as soon as we got on it but that would end at the top of whatever gear we started in. great match but i seriously expected more from the AT version. how much faster is the 6 spd 3G TL-S in relation to the AT?

So for a CL-S AT vs a 3rd gen TL AT, the CL basically has the advantage?

update: stock for stock

ran my boy's cl-s auto and pulled about 2-3 cars, from the start about even until second when the tl-s pulls. now i wanna run my other friends cl-s 6. he actually ran the cl-s auto and won by about 1-2 cars so it'll prob be a good one or if anyone in the area has a not heavily modded cl-s 6 hit me up. i'm still stock for now......

We recently added a TL-S to the family, and I was a bit worried that my wife would now have the faster car... I have the CL-S6 with bolt ons (I/H/E/P).

The TL-S feels heavier... and it is. So in my view the increase in HP and torque is a wash. I will likely not be able to take her car out and race it with mine, but after a week long vacation in the mountains with the TLS (me driving), I was glad to be back in my car. It feels quite a bit faster to me and handles a lot better... but then I have some suspension mods as well. I do like all the electronics in the new TL-S though! A CL-S 6 stock vs. a TL-S AT stock would be very close… 6MT against 6MT I think we would be beaten.
