Anyone know how we stack up agains the new TL's? Both The regular Tl and the TL-S ?
I would safely assume the TL-S 2007 takes us to school...lol....

If you were stock it would be a close "drivers" race with the TL, but the TL-S should smoke a stock CL-S. Judging from this info at tirekick.com

I know that the ( CL-S)6speed can take a New TL if the driver is good enough!!! The TL-s well if you don't have mods for example intake... headers... exhaust you don't have a chance (against a new TL-s) unless you working with a comptech S/C then we are talkin( but then wouldn't that be cheating) LOL!!!

 

TL-s 1/4 = 14.2 qt. mile time

for a CLS6 thats a pretty good chance and a great race if you ask me, stock for stock

There was a CL-S 6 in here that said they raced a TL-s and smoked it but I think that it was driver error, not a fair run.

07 TL-s auto 3636 lbs.
07 TL-s 6 3559 lbs
03 CL-s 6 3446 lbs


tl-s 6 redline is 6800rpm

A stock tl-s will smoke a stock cl-s 6 speed..more torque and more hp

 

i'm pretty sure it would be neck in neck. especially 6 spd CL-S vs. AT 3G TL-S.


not too long ago, i ran a 3rd Gen TL from my San Diego crew. he's got AEM intake with thermal wrap, full pulley set, set of 3 high flow cats(due to the 3G TL's lack of headers), resonator delete and Thermoblok plenum spacers. at the time, i only had Comptech headers, Icebox with the K&N filter and Thermobloks. from 20-85 mph, i put just over a car and a half in length. i also have run a 6 speed 3G TL with the AEM CAI plus decent driver and ran from 80 mph to the top of third(~110 mph) with my aforementioned mods and put half a carlength on him. i've also pulled on other low speed rolls and digs.

 

remember Luis he said stock for stock not modded..

 

right. i think what i said in my post would still hold. but i would still like to see a video.

 

All reviews I have seen of STOCK specs has the new TL-S over 1/2 second faster than even the CL-S 6M in the 1/4 mile.

i pulled on a 07 tls auto form 20-100 and all i had in my 01 cls was xs headers... i raced my friend twice and the results were the same

i got a freshly broken in 07 tl-s ready to go with any cl-s 6-speed.(stock for stock or minor bolt on-s) i'm gonna try to contact MyClType-s and get a run on vid but he's been mia for a while. i know he can drive, plus i owe him one for KILLING my 3.0 when he got his cl-s.......

Just for the thread sake, but not really related to the topic what is the TL Aspec of the 3rd gen version of the TL?

 

as far as i know, they applied a stiffer suspension and body kit only.

Make sure you guys get good video...I know I speak for alot of people when I say I'm excited to see this little experiment.

there's just one guy who's posted with a 3rd Gen TL-S. but he hasn't posted for quite a while now.

 

i'm auto, my boy with the cl-s auto rode in mine and refuses to run................

 

Last friday night me and my g/f were on the way home on the 101 from pf changs and this black tl pulls next to me, pauses then guns it....and i was like "wtf" is he trying to race me? then he slows down right next to me and keeps pace with me at about 80mph

by then it was obvious and the lanes were clear ahead of us so we gun it, we stay pretty much even for a bit then i start creeping on him and by the time we hit 100 i had about a fender and gaining.....then he slams on his brakes! literally hahahah down to like 50mph... ???? so i slow and then he flys by me like at 120 hahahaha... funny stuff..lolol

maybe ill catch him around 20mph next time or something...or in 2nd or 3rd gear muhahaha

 

that^ sounds about right. you have an intake and who knows what he had.

a little deviation here but, i gotta say that me and Jrezo ran the other day. and the theory about an AT CLS with I/H vs. a stock 6-spd being even seems to stand true. the only difference in our case was that i also have a crank pulley and he had a custom intake setup which is fair to say offset each other. we tried nearly ten runs both from stops and different speed rolls. we came to the conclusion that we were definitely neck in neck. whoever got the lead from the start held it in place.

Josh is an excelent shifter i must add. we got some videos but, they were not in-car ones. therefore, they aren't quite great indicators of how even we really were. there was a fellow AZer recording with his camera and he has a 3G TL with the AEM. on our last run, he followed us. we totally left him behind. i'll post some video as soon as i can get it from him.

 

so any word on the videos yeat?

BTW i would race mine's but i can't drive both my cars

 

They were damb good runs and I got to give it up to Luis, his set up is pretty Nice. Our run was about an 1/8 mile with a slight up hill. I couldn't run threw 3rd and I think Luis was just hittin his 3rd. Great experiment and it was alot of fun
