CL-S vs. Corvette Stingray

So I'm coming back from my buddy's place last night around 12:30 AM after a night of watching LOST and a little mind altering and I notice a perfect looking silver '68-'72 Corvette Stingray pulling up to a light in front of me as I'm rollling up to it as well. The license plate read "Sting U". He's in the middle lane and I'm in the left of a three lane main road. As I stop at the light next to him I put my window down and hear the lobe of a cam and what I'm assuming is a big block. Anyway, in anticipation of a possible run, the left turn signal turns green and I take my foot off the brake and roll forward for a second jumping the gun. Now embarassed because I'm all ancy to run this guy, I think it tipped him off that I was going to go for it when the light turned. As we're both waiting for the light to go change a truck takes a right onto our street and about five seconds later the light turns. Without much surprise as I go for it I hear him jump on it too. It was on! Yes, finally something other than a sport compact! It was great, I got the jump on him because he was roasting the tires. Through 1st and the begining to middle of 2nd gear we were bumper to bumper. He had to get into the far right lane to get around the truck that had turned a few seconds before, but it definitely didn't stop his momentum or speed. Anyway, I was just pure smiles because the Vette sounded absolutely beautiful as he was WOT next to me. He was lighting up the tires every gear change and I was just happy to be hanging with him, that was until the top of 2nd into 3rd when he chirped 3rd hard and started pulling away from me at a decent clip. It was just as I was getting off of the throttle though because it was late and there are cops that sit on the side of that road watching for speeders. It was so much fun and I'm sure the guy was surprised that I was keeping up with him like I was. I wanted to give him the as I came up to the next light next to him but he ended up getting into the left turn lane to take a left and I was going straight with a green. What a thrill hanging with a muscle car late night with the luxo-sport Acura. Good times I tell ya. If only I was able to grab my camera on video mode it would've been even better.

Wheel spin loses races. Or almost in this case. Good race! Nice driving. I bet that old big block sounded awesome. Reminds me of the time I raced a Chevelle SS 396. He could not get it to hook up and I ended up walking him. With a better launch he would have smoked me.
