CL-S vs. 328i

Well it was my wife again, coming home after work last night. We were getting on the highway and I moved over to the left lane to get around some cars. I look up and see that she had gotten on it and was coming up quick.

I was doing about 55 and left it in 3rd (SS mode) and floored it. Unfortunately she was also in 3rd (5-Speed manual) and doing about 60 -65 (4500 revs where that car pulls well). As you might expect she kept gaining until and I had to switch lanes to give her some room.

It wasn't until I was at about 80 that I started pulling on her and by 100 she was dropping quick.

I redeemed myself at the off ramp though. Two left turn lanes and I was on the right. She got on it as I did but by 60 (where we both let off) she was more than a safe distance back.

Moral of this story, if you can downshift, do so...

Yeh, although you were in front of her, she had a head-start because she was going 10-15 mph faster than you to begin with. It's tough to get a jump when you're in that position.

Actually I find the BMWs Climate Control easier to work with and seems to maintain a temperature better.

Yes, we did get the sport package which is a definite plus. As for acceleration, I easily take her now with the addition of the intake and headers. When I was stock it was closer but I would normally be ahead by around 1 length up to 60.
