CL-S AND TL-S gets 6 speed!
From www.vtec.net/news/items/674.html .
The May 14 issue of Autoweek reports that a 6-speed manual tranny will be available in the TL-S "later this year". This is a pleasant surprise, to say the least. Assuming the car can hook up (tractionwise) you might see the 0-60 times for the 6-speed TL-S (and CL-S) dipping into the 5 second range. Having said that, the automatic version has a tough enough time putting power to the ground through its greasy Michelins, so it may not be a realistic assumption. Even so, I would expect to see more improvement in the 1/4 mile time and trap speed. Furthermore, I would hope and expect that the ratios would be spaced such that acceleration above 60mph would improve dramatically. Right now, once you hit 3rd gear, the Type S start to feel a bit anemic for its 260hp. If Acura would pair the 6-speed with some real tires, then I'd say "sport sedan" could be a fitting descriptor for the TL-S.

That would be great. That could explain why there is no definitive date nor chagnes that the 2002 CLS will entail.
As for the traction problems. I would doubt that Acura would offer a CLS with a manual tranny with the MXMs. They should have to go into summer tires for that. And if they stay with Michelin which would make sense, get ready for Pilot Sports (same tire the M3 is using) which is super sticky and make a big difference.
I will seriously consider selling my car to get into a 6 speed if that happened. I am not kidding.

Used to own an S2K. Alwaws wondered where that 6 speed would show up. I wonder if it's the same one going into The Type S. Had a 1-2 grind but I think Honda fixed it with a recall after I sold it.

I still don't think I can afford to trade up, but I'm going to have to consider it.
Another major hurdle is.... I don't wanna give up the Gold... it's just too unique!!

Then it may not cost you much more to simply swap out your tranny. heh
If I was too trade right now Id prolly lose 4k on the trade in alone... prolly even more now cuz of the accident.
+ the aquisition costs of the new whip.

Manuals almost ALWAYS get better MPG then an auto tranny.
Sure, if you are spinning into the redline at every stoplight that wouldn’t be true, but if you behave you should get better results.
Plus with stick the car isn’t always hunting to decide which gear to be in and the overall assembly is lighter and has less drag on the driveline.

I too would "miss" the gold; I think I'll hang around and wait for the Rx-8 with the new generation rotary....we'll get spanked too bad for a trade this early. I can hear the Acura dealers moaning now. Besides, for "point and squirt" driving, these autos just "do it" before you'd pick the right manual gear to choose to make the move. Real world driving--even though I prefer manuals.
