CL-S Payments

CL-S Payments soon will be history for me and my CLS will mine and "payment free".

I acquired my CL-s On June 15, 2000.

Out of the door cost, tax free, for $33,400.
Paid down $3,400 and finance $30,000 from Honda Finance at %8.99 for 36 months.

Monthy payment is $953.85.

1) Paid down $3,400
2) Paid so far 9x$953.85 = $8584.65,
3) PLUS 12,000 paid on 02/15/01

Total $23984.65

Some $11,000 and my CLS would be debt FREE.

Couple months from now I can see this happening

Do you think this is the way to go? What about you? Thanks for your feedback.

Good for you!

Bought in Aug 00, I got $6871 to go on mine, or just 11 more double payments of $640 (BTW I only financed $12K) Though I may back off on the double if the new house comes into play.

I put $8000 down and pay $477/month @ 7.85% for 60 months. I doubt I'll ever pay it off because I will likely be getting a 5-series BMW in 2-3 years. No flames please!

I put $6300 down and I am paying $449.52 a month for ( OUCH!! ) 72 months! Oh well!
I probably will not have this car for another 5 1/2 years. I am thinking of a 2003 TL-S, or maybe an Audi or Bimmer. Just maybe!

The only reason I did not pay it cash when I bought is that I was fully invested in the stock market. Now, almost one year, the market is fucked up big time, so 3 month ago, I decided to invest in my CLS and sve my sorry ass some interest.

What can I do, so far my paper loss in the stock market is $30k+. I could have bought another CLS or maybe got an M5!

My payments are $446/month for 4yrs @ 9.9%. I put down $14.5k in september. And I'm planning on paying it off this year but I don't know if I can do it. I think I still have about $14k to go in 9 months. It is going to be hard paying $1,500 month. Especially since I just spent $1k on front and center speakers, and still have to buy a sub and rears for my Home theater system.

Sure I love it, but I hate the Acura Paint. Worse mine is a black CLS. Today, After washing my CLS I noticed those fugly deep water spots. Even hand waxing did not help.... Time for a buffer job and nice wax job.

Oh, don't even mention the chips and the scratches that appear from nowhere. Ahh,.. I Still love my CLS.

(Humble suggestion -- have you tried any of the "final inspection" products to get at the water spots?)

Really I just washed it. and noticed those water spots on the hood. tried a liquid wax NuFinsih quickly, and I had to stop. I bought Maguire's new cleaner-wax paste and I would try tommorrow and see what happens.

Oh... It is snow again,... what a NE?!!

oono,

Your numbers are wacky and scary.

Let us see 755 x 60 = 45,300. Assuming you finacnced the whole 34,000 that's $11,300 (33%)in interest. You are skinned to death with Fdeal.

Check it back if numbers are acurate better find another financer.

Hmmmm....so what should I do? Gonna buy a CLS in about a month. Yeah, the stock market is f*d up so I don't feel like investing the cash I have on hand (lost enough already ).
So: should I just buy my CLS outright, should I use the ~35K as the downpayment on a better car (a nice dream, maybe )or should I finance the CLS and hope I can use the extra cash on hand to invest at a higher rate of return than I'll spend on the interest?

I hate having a car payment. I just want to pay it off as fast as possible. But that is just me, I hate having debt and never carry a balance on my credit cards. So I saw pay it all off if you can.

the car price was 32K. and as i remembered the total interests for 5 years is about 13K and the finanical manager told me it was 8.5%( ANNUAL INTERESTS). and it s 5 years not 1 year, so i cant be 33% or else i have to pay about 52K for 5 years of interests.
0.085 X 32000 x 5 = 13600 + 32000 = 45K i guess and 45000 divided by 60 month is $750 a month,
well that s what happens if u put 0 for downpayment, which means u have to pay longer. Longer means more interests.

From Yahoo Loan Calculator:

LOAN $34k, 8.5%, 60 payments:
=================================
ESTIMATED MONTHLY PAYMENT: $ 698
TOTAL COST OF ALL MONTHLY PAYMENTS: $ 41,854

DOWN PAYMENT: $ 0
VALUE OF CURRENT TRADE-IN: $ 0
TOTAL COST TO PURCHASE: $ 41,854

I guess you are over paying some $52/month or $3,120/loan. Your effective annual interest rate is 11.65%.

Man there are some large payments on this board. I am not as bad off as I thought. My out the door cost , including TT&L was 30,524. I put 11,524 down and financed 19k for 60 months at 7.25%. My payments are 379.

Like some of you guys, I could have paid cash, but I can get more than 7.25 on my money by keeping it and investing wisely. There is no way I am going to come close to keeping the car 5 yrs. 2 or 3 tops. Either way I will have pleny of equity in the car when I sell it or trade it down the road.

smartest answer in this entire posting....the best financial advice I have ever been give is "use someone else's money" why would anyone drop 30 bones right out-a-pocket when "if you can get a decent rate" you can borrow the 30 and invest your own "wisely" and have a greater rate of return overall. I was at the Audi dealer yesterday and one of the salesmen was telling me about a guy that wrote a check for 80 grand..yea he is paying no interest, but can you imagine what 80 grand can do.
Now granted the market is in the toilet, but thats great for us...this is the time to invest in something with upside potential, not a car that can only go down...
you guys that have the money to pay cash for your cars, great, I'm happy for ya, but don't sit in here and try to make the other guys feel bad because their maybe not as well off financially as you are....besides if your blowing a wod that big on one of the fastest depreciating items on the market your not the sharpest tool in the shed anyway.

Sniper,

Just to let you, a stock expert was on record saying that NASDAQ will tank to 1200 level. The Economy is fundamentaly hurt big time. Feds will drop another .75 on Wednesday. No Recovery in sight before the 4thQ. Maybe, UE Rate will jump to 6%-7%, no surplus to fight over as the bitshes in Senate are just throwing stones will the ecomomy is tanking. Japan is already in Big Shit (i.e. Resssion). 75% of Adults in the US think we will be resesion.

What do you like to do? BTW, Where can I have a secure return of more than 9%!!! I would like know where I can use others money and have some.

I can see that you and I are gonna have alot of fun here:
Do you think that by throwing out some bullshit numbers and predictions your gonna impress or intimidate someone. Maybe your little words and phrases can make some of the 16 year olds that frequent this site think that you are on the cutting edge of the economy, but your not the only one that watches the markets and the economy. This so-called expert that your referring too, is this the same guy that predicted that the NASDAQ would ever hit 5,000, I say no, he is a bear and no matter where the market is he will always look for it to go lower. As far as your interest rate drop prediction, man your really going out on a limb there aren't you..that drop was priced into the market over three weeks ago. I also get the Wall Street Journal so your not telling me anything I don't already know. As far as what I'm doing, I'm continuing to invest. it's called Dollar-Cost-Averaging (but I'm sure since you obviously watch TV alot and learn these big words you already knew that) I will continue to invest especially with the prices where they are. Sure they may go even lower but I will invest even more then.
I tell you what you show me one financial advisor or so-called market expert that is paying cash for depreciating goods.
You and these other assholes that are bragging about all of the money and cars you have are not impressing anyone. This is Acura CL.com, Not rich little dick.com...and by the way, people with money don't brag to 15-25 year olds about how much they have, hell your probably still cruising the mall parking lot to show the high school girls that you have a big new car.....get a life man

Sniper,

Please, get your shot at the target, NOT me!

1) I did not call you asshole.
2) I did not call you dick.
3) I am not rich, in any standard.
4) I have only 1 CL-S
5) I was giving a financial advice.
6) I was not showing off or making a fuss.

Oh, Please you did not answer this: "Where can I use others money and have some?"

Thanks, and keep cool. I smell that this gona be closed soon.

All I can say is CAR PAYMENTS SUCK. I owe about $6500 on mine and will have it paid off soon. How anyone can enjoy a car at $600-900 per month is beyond me.

No one, and I do mean NO one should be giving financial advice if they are not licensed to do so... I dont mean to be an ass but when people start telling or advising others how to manage their finances it pisses me off. I have seen to many people get screwed because they went off of someone elses well-intentioned advice. As far as this post being closed...it should have been closed from the very beginning...it has nothing to do with the Acura CL!

Nashua...I did not call any names in my initial post, but somehow I knew you would be the one to respond, what the hell do you have against me anyway. As far as who's money you can use, well since your interest rate is at 8.99 then you should probably be reducing your rate like you said, but for anyone under around 7.5 it would serve them better to use the financier's money and invest their own. BTW why in the hell do you have 8.99 for 36 months, you either are young with basically no credit record or you have a negative report on your credit record. With decent credit you can get a much better rate especially for only 36 months

As for the credit. I have an EXCELLENT record, but NEW record. I would keep it that way.

I have a young record that is it.

Enjoy your CLS, and I would love to know how do you like the Comptech mods. If you write up a nice review that would great.

Well, if you had a crystal ball (in Feb/Mar 2000) you could have invested in bonds back in March using a ladder (2 year stagger of differing bond types) of B-AAA rated bonds. The current "adjusted" return is about 9% on just such an arrangement.

(Of, course, if the economy gets TOO much worse, who knows what will happen to it. I helped with the bonds as an afterthought, and did well [as most did in the 1st quarter of last year] on "good" techs. Right now, even the "better" aggressive growth/growth fund managers look like a bunch of morons. I don't even want to look at some of "our" sector and growth funds.)

-> Yes, you have a very good points. Do let us know when the market has "capitulated!"
