CL-S Auto vs. MAX Auto

Everyone talks about the MAX with the manual transmission. Stock for stock, who will win. A CL-S are the new Maxima?

This has been talked about to DEATH! :o

Here are the results ....

AUTO ---> Stock max vs stock CLS = DRIVER
MANUAL ---> 6spd Max vs 6spd CLS = DRIVER

If you modd the hell out of them it's still DRIVER.

Unless one adds more than the other. i/h/e i still say driver.

I dont think they have Headers (Y pipe) yet for the 2k2 max..so the 6spd might have that advantage...but still real close

From what I've been seeing the CL-S is faster. The auto Maximas have been traping lower than the auto CL-S in the 1/4.

I have both....2001 CL-S and 2002 auto max. It is definately a drivers race. My CL-S feels faster but I also have headers and CAI.

The automatic Maxima SE is a lot slower than the automatic CL Type S, but with the manual transmissions, they're about equal. The Maxima's automatic is a 4-speed, and has longer ratios, therefore not very quick for acceleration.

Its a drivers race for the Auto vs Auto. Manual vs Manual the Maxima has posted a better time SO FAR at the track. 14.2@99 vs 14.3@98. They are damn close though!! You guys have headers though, so when those go on bye bye Maxima.

The times are still close and that is still a driver vs driver situation. The maxima's have been out since last year, and people have already been to the track. CLS 6spd just came out and we had only a few make it to the track. Giving the track, climate, conditions + driver, the times can probably be better for both cars. I SAY DRIVER! :P

You can't make judgement with only one person hitting 14.2 and now all maxs go 14.2.

Don't the Maxs still have that crap 4 spd auto? If so, they lose, simple the gearing on our car is better. If they have the 5spd...it still depends...on how much power is getting to the ground...

I have beaten auto 2k2 Maxi's.. it's close, but the CL-S should win... (unless my CAI really helped that much)

Even with the 4speed, several people on the org have still gotten 14.6 and 14.7 stock. That is about the same as the CLS auto stock so both cars are the same. Remember the Max has more torque and is still lighter than the CLS so the 4speed deficiency is negated.
