Talking CL-S auto vs. G35 coupe auto

this is one car i've always wanted to go heads-up against. i'm on a two-lane st. and he pulls out of a st. in front of me and i slow to even up as we approach a dip i'm about 1/3 carlength behind. then in 3rd we go WOT and i drop so my car downshifts to 2nd and i start pulling on him pretty hard right away. i think both of us were surprised - me cos i didn't expect to do as well and his face showed what he was thinking. by ~80 mph i had 1 and half carlengths on him as i shut it down since we were approaching a light. it was short and sweet! i have 2 other races with my friends pending. one with a stick 350z and the other with a silverado SS. the latter one will be a joke but hey, gotta race!

when are you going to race the Z? will it be from a dig or a roll or both?

after i make a run with you. for some reason or other you don't have a signature! haha. as for the z, it's just matter of calling him up and meeting. and i know we'll do a few of each. and as for planning a meet, i talked to one of the guys from the 3rd gen TL's which i met before the last Pasadena meet. he would've rallied up those guys but unfortunately he's staying out of town for a bit. maybe next year.

01 cls w/i&h. nothing too exciting. should be an interesting race w/the Z. which model? if it's the track model he should put the hurt on you. if not, well, he'll probably still put the hurt on you.

what, are you saying i'm not worthy enough to run against you and for you to just go on to the 350Z? no, i just wanted to know what you have since your sig doesn't show what you got.

no, i'm saying that this is an acura board and many ppl have CLS' w/h&i.
if we were to race it would come down to who gets the move so there's no mystery there. guess it's because i've raced other CLs so I know the outcome. where the heck did you get that idea?

I own both cars (automatic) and my 2003 stock G35 does a 14.4 quarter to a 14.7 for the (gutted intake resonater & K&N filter) 2001Cls. I have also used a stop watch on both and the results have consistently shown the Cls to be noticeably quicker from 20 mph on.

well i do have i/h but just replace the pulleys with the thermoblocks which i have since they produce about the same gain. then we know exhaust on NA engines doesn't do much at all. and you see the results of that sort of run above.

i'm assuming the guy had an intake cos i could hear his engine over mine, even after i passed him. so who knows what he had going.

i'm still kicking myself. as i was at a light ready to turn left, a G35C with the sport package(6 spd, wheels & Brembos) pulled next to me. we start to make the turn and i had purposely kept a speed to come even with him as we straightened up out of the turn into a ~20mph roll. as soon as i looked at him he gunned it. i nearly immediately recovered the lost ground from his early jump but slowed with the SS as we quickly came to another redlight. i turn off the VSA and thought we were going to go at it from a stop. instead he starts to roll, then guns it. he gained a 1/2 cl on me. as my car shifted into 2nd i was starting to pull away. THEN, at the top of second, my car is redlining and he pulls away! SHIT i was fucking pissed! i just happened to have forgotten i was in SS. i turn right into a street and out his sight ashamed. i'm pretty sure that would've been a hard-earned kill.
there'll a next time.

Looks like you have a couple of tough races ahead of you. I don't think you have a chance against the Z unless the driver has a bad launch. The Silvie SS could be closer than you think. Don't think it will be an easy win. They are easy to launch with AWD and run stock 6.6 sec to sixty and 14.7 in the quarter. I'm sure your car can beat those times if you have a good launch. Let us know how you do. Good Luck!

we raced a while back. i even started a thread but it already slid off this forum's pages. i tore that SS a new one. i told him i want a rematch from a stop and he refuses to go for it again.

after 120 the G will tear you down.

i raced a manual (before the HP bump) and it was tight, i pulled about half a car from 60-70 and 90-110, bt after that i was toast.

g35 manual's are hard to kill.. i have an auto with intake, headers, pulleys, thermoblock spacers, and full catback... they are pretty damn fast... but I've killed a few Auto G35's and 350Z's
