I just got another cracked windshield on my '99 CL and initially thought oh, well - s... happens till a co-worker mentioned that all his Acura/Honda owning friends were on their 3rd windshield. Two questions - does anyone have access to any wind tunnel data to find out where the cause is? Wondering if addition of a rear spoiler or any other after market product would change the air flow enough to prevent this. I was at least 75 feet from another vehicle when it happened. Secondly, it looks like the newer Acuras feature a thicker windshield, which implies they knew there was a problem with this one. Any knowledge of a recall or Service Bulletin in the works? Thanks for any advice.

 

My front end is ghetto fabulous with rock chips, especially the hood. Every day another rock tings off it I start daydreaming about a CF hood.

 

My commute is 90% highway - chips in paint and 1 small windshield chip. Not a crack, just a very small chip. Do I need to get the windshield replaced????

 

Sounds like my car! You only need to replace a windshield when there's a crack.
