i read on edmunds that our cl is like 300ilbs lighter then the tl doesnt that make alot of a diffrence in 1/4 mile times

Well I see you have already done some research so go one step further and do a search for 1/4 mile times for both cars on car and driver or even Edmunds might have it. Nonetheless, you will find that, yes the CL is lighter (less doors, slightly shorter) means less materials, less metal. Weight does make a huge difference and I am sure there is a mathematical equation or ratio that could explain how. Anyhow, yes the CL is quicker than the TL-same engine just less weight, even quicker when 6 spd versus auto.

acura tl 2003 type s with navi weight 3574 lbs.

 

acctually the cl type S auto non navi is 3510(2001)...your figures are probablly for the 6mt which is 60 lbs lighter than the auto
