CL got banged up pretty good :-( PIX

So I'm driving to work, normal day so far. and I'm on the service road going 40mph/65kms roughly and buddy pulls out in front of me wayyy after the point of no return (where u know if u pull out the guy coming is going to be in some serious speed variance). So at the last second, he pulls out in front of me, I decide to swerve around him instead of smashing the brakes and hoping for the best and when i did that, he was veering off to the solid yellow lane anyways so he made me have to go even further around his ass and WAMMO.

He told the office he didn't see me anywhere before turning... AND i was going the frigging speed limit for a change.

So here's the damage

JUST missed the door OMG thank you, and the headlight

Those were taken at Erin Mills acura with my buddy's i phone.

these photos are garbage bellow tho.

this is at the scene

Wheel is not attached to the steering column so there's stuff to be fixed there.

anyhoo.. no one got hurt which is the good thing and yea... i got the day off then found out I cannot BUY MY RIMS locally until a month from now so WTF do i do? I either buy a different set for the winter and use them now or i find a konig zero in rim somewhere fast.

WHO SELLS KONIG rims in the GTA.. SOMEONE please help me.

thanks fellas

It should not be a total loss.
It don't look all that bad.
looks like someone else will be seeing the body shop.
Glad to hear your in one piece.

I hate when wheels are no longer available.
By the way I think the curb scuff can be buffed out.
Is that wheel still holding air ?

that's where i went to get them the first time and they are out of stock till a MONTH from now so yea... i need to outsource it from somewhere other than that.... or wait it out and use a different set of rims.... that i don't have so. i'm in a bind at the moment.

wheel is DONEZO.. pieces are missing off it. and the other front rim got rashed up a little from the tow... SO.. I am gonna get 2 new rims and tire to make sure I am 100% again.. and then keep the front driver side one as a spare just in case.

yea boston peeps.

im gonna get 2 new rims and tires.. I don't trust the other one... it went through some stresss considering the whole front end on the passenger side went up and the drivers side wheel is angled inwards... dunno what that means but Acura is fixing it and I am just gonna play it safe

thanks, yea me too. it coulda been muchhh worse so i am quite at ease all things considered. and the other ppl were fine too so that's nice.

insurance said 1600 for body alone.. and they're paying for the 1 rim and tire possibly also... so i just gotta buy (pay for) 1 tire and rim for now. And tomorrow i'm getting my buddy to check out the car and tell the insurance company what needs to be fixed. so

I am lucky cause he'll know whats wrong and won't hesitate to replace anything that's outta place (on the insurance company's tab ofcourse)

for once this insurance thing is gonna get me MINE!

at a minunuim they should be buying that tire for you, allot of times just a scruff on the tire is enough for them to get you a tire, and considering the rim is in that sorta shape, who knows what shape the tire is in internally (look at there's, it got tore open)

then suspension wise, i would also make sure that front cross member did not get pulled back or anything (since the strut link probably got yanked out of the crossmember
then steering wise, you probably will need a inner tie rod (they have smaller joints and take the brunt of most impacts) then also probably a outer tie rod along with that too

btw don't forget to ask for an alignment too, i heard toe wears your tires real fast

also at least you did not break your thumbs either, since the wheel probably got yanked out of your hands too
anyways with not getting hurt, and also to fixing it (i have to fix mine also from a little mishap also currently )

in canada when u get into an accident regardless of whose fault it is. it's your insurance that covers your damages.

Acutally it's only in certain provinces. Quebec doesn't have no fault...and there are others i believe. No-fault keeps our courts less busy.

If you order AND pay for the replacement rims now.....will they "Loan" a pair (correct size) to you to use on new tires, until the replacement rims show up?
Doesn't hurt to ask.

acura is basically fixing my car and I am buying the rim later. for now they are using some other rim I assume... lol

yea today i'm gonna call and find out exactly how the replacement process works. I know they will replace them up to the OEM $ and mine are 250 a rim. CL-S rims are 355 plus TAX and a tire is 220 from acura. thus they will spend up to 575 for that rim and tire.

but I dunno if I can use this to my advantage and get new tires of the front.

Cause I am buying another rim for the front to make sure both of the rims/ tires are mint.

what are the best tires to run to grip off the line???

ok so my buddy who inspected the car texted me and said damages are 4-6k approximately. this was at the very end of friday, so monday i will find out if they are going to write off the car. Cause they might ... right?

or do they have fix it since they've already done 2K in bodywork.

completely depends on the insurance itself, and how much they would be paying you if totaled, vs the additional cost to repair it from the 2k already paid out

the shop has to send the quote to insurance who then gives the okay to fix it or write it off. So if they've already started the work, sounds like they'll be fixing it.

colision shops have no problem racking up a bill for the insurance to pay.
my guess if you had the talent to do the work yourself the repairs would be about half if that.
Now it's time to save up a little extra dough for a little extra painting ,like color matching the grill and the lower on too.

, or be willing to strip the bumper and such off yourself (but they already probably already did that though), to save yourself a little dough, then they might also be willing to paint a couple of things for you on the side, to make up for the other labour you saved them from having to do
