cl drifting?

sounds silly. and it is. i was just out in my sisters 99 cougar e brake drifting and i tried a reverse 180 degree spin and then a smooth take off to first and it worked heavenly. so i thought, hmmmm this would be fun to try in the acura. but all i got was no wheel spin a stalled car, and looking like an idiot. no matter how hard i tried i couldnt get it to freaking work. i heard loud sounds and none of which were too lovely. but, on the bright side, i was able to do some crazy fun dirt/mud drifting with my pal tom yesterday. im a pro with the scandanavian flick! so basically, there was nothing to really tell. more of me just trying to have fun and be stupid. god.... better stick to american if you wanna have fun.. have any tips on what i did wrong?

the american part made me laugh tho. The cl might as well be considered american. It was built in the US, only sold here, and has less than 10% japanese parts. If u wanna have real fun try german or italian.

It can be done. I did it in my 1985 Volkswagon Scirrocco and it was FWD. I know alot of you young kids never heard of a Scirrocco. Go google it. Anyways, the trick is to find an on ramp with a lot of road dirt and debris along the edge of the curb. Pitch the rear end into the curb. Best gear to do it in is 2nd. best fun I ever had in my life. Then again it's hard to tell which was more fun--drifting all the way up an on ramp into oncoming highway traffic or watching the people behind me with their jaw dropped as I looked at them from sideways. Ain't no way in hell I'm going to try that shit in my CL-S, though.

you guys realise that the cougar was front wheel drive as well and i did all the same things, right? yes, i do have too much time on my hands. i love to go out in my moms mustang and fuck around. i push that car to its limit, and have some great stories to tell because of it. but when it comes to my own car it is possible. just not NEARLY as cool or as fun as in rwd. but i have gone sideways. many times. fuck ive gone sideways before in a 1989 pos mazda 4 door. its not too difficult dudes. its called go fast through a turn whip the steering wheel the wrong way into the turn then the opposite and it will unbalance the car and the back end will whip out.

Thats not really drifting.

Its just an ebrake induced oversteer instead of actual AWD/RWD power oversteer.

Put some 255s on the front and 195s on the rear and take out the front sway bar, lol. Also, I wouldnt call J turns drifting but if you're trying to make youtube videos or something, put food trays under the back wheels and leave your ebrake on. I hate to see people do this with nice cars but that's just me. More the kind of activity I would have done in my 87 Lebaron...

I don't give a damn what you call it--drifting, sliding, controlled oversteer, power sliding, hydroplaning--the point is to get the car sideways and enjoy it. People act like flinging around the rear end of a car didn't happen until some kid came up with the name DRIFTING a couple years ago.

Speaking of drifting, that has to be the DUMBEST ASS sport I've EVER seen in my motherfucking life. Yes, lets take a perfectly good set of tires and wear them out in a couple of minutes flat. By the way, the sport you people call 'drifting' was invented over one hundred years ago. It's called SPRINT CAR RACING and its done on a DIRT TRACK not ASSPHAULT.

that method must put all kinds of flat spots in tires draging the back around like that.
