CL dash rattle

I've got the most annoying dash rattle right above my climate control. If I push down on the dash right there it stops. I've taken my car in twice for this problem and it's still not fixed. Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, what did your dealer do to get rid of it? I'll be taking it in again tomorrow morning. Please give me some good news!
Thanks-

I have had a rattle in the back drivers side seat, up top kinda where the little hanger hook is. I usually just turn up the radio more until it goes away.

Let me know if they fix your rattle, I'm scared to take my car in, it'll probably come back with something louder.

Good luck.

I have a dash rattle near the passanger airbag, It only rattles when the weater is cold. Also some noise when the moon roof shade is pushed back, a little noies occurs. I usually pully the shade shut. But since the weather is warm now, I haven't heard the other rattle.

Re: Dash Rattle

I had the same problem and after about 3 trips to the dealer, and some close inspections from the regional guys, they made my car the case study and replaced the dash...it seemed to have fixed the problem, but every once in a great while either when the car is started from the garage and warmin/cooling off, it will rattle...but they attribute that to the 'extreme' temp change in the area due to the a/c ducting...

I don't have their case study number, but I would ask for the dash to be replaced or the air ducting...either way you are gonna get a loner car for a few days...it took 2 dashes before mine was done, since the first dash had a defect in how the foam part was attached to the dash cover causin even more squeaks and a bad fit.

My glove box rattles pretty bad everynow and again. As far as I can tell it is the glove box door banging against the dash when I go over cracks/bumps on the highway. Im positive its the glove box because if I just open the door while driving the sound immediately stops. It doesn't happen all of the time, but I do notice it at least once a week.

Thanks for all the responses, i'll tell the service guys about having the whole dash replaced, i doubt they'll really be happy about doing that, but it's worth a try. I'll let you all know how it turns out tomorrow.
Thanks-

Make sure its not your intake. I had a rattle for the longest time that was coming from the dash, so i thought. 6 months later I figured out it was my intake. I no longer have the rattle.

I know it's not that cause I just put the intake in last month and it's been rattling for longer than that.

I know this doesn't help much but I had same dashboard rattle on 01 Type S. It occurred after I had owned the car 16 months and only when the temperature was between 40 and 55 degrees. Slightly bumpy roads set it off.

First time to dealer - no results - they couldn't hear rattle.

Before next trip to dealer I found road nearby that set rattle off. Then I went to dealer and insisted mechanic ride with me right away even though they were too busy to fix problem that day. On scheduled service time, once again they couldn't find or duplicate rattle but they did put foam material around passenger air bag. No improvement noted.

Now, a year later, for some unexplained reason the dashboard rattle has almost disappeared. Miracles do happen?

Now if only the rattle in the passenger side door and the squeaking around the transmission shift gate would just go away.
Passenger door rattle has definitely increased now that cool weather has arrived. Have scheduled service next week so I'll mention door problem.

I traded an 88 Legend Coupe on 01 Type S and planned on keeping car for many years. It doesn't look promising at this point with the number of rattles, transmission problems, and paint quality. Maybe another brand (BMW) next time.

I have this damn click click sound at the lowest A-piller and where the dashboard and the windshield meet.. I was never to fix it

I guess it is some kind of untied wire connector hopping up and down and making the noise and it is below the dashboard... that sucks...

The dealer rep said I hate to take out your dashboard (and fuck it ) when put it back you will have a ton of rattles ....

Ya, I have the same rattle. It comes and goes depending on the temperature outside. I'll let you know what the dealership here does for it... Annoying but, it only happens at certain temps.

I heard a rattle somewhere behind the dash, maybe near the glove box. But I couldnt' figure out where it was. Then one day, I heard it and played with the passenger side visor and that was it! The little mirror flap was bouncing around a little so I just pushed it into the roof more and the rattle went away! Try messing with the visors if you hear rattles next time.

I wish my rattle only happened at certain temperatures, but it's all the time. Now i have a sqeaky drivers seat that's very annoying. I tried to fix that myself, but it didn't help, i think i'm just going to take it in again next week.

And i know it's not the visor or anything else, because whenever i push on the dash right above the middle air vents the rattle goes away. The dealer said they put some foam tape in that area but it didn't help for long.
