CHP's are never asleep...

Me and my friend was driving down North 101 past Golden Gate Bridge this night in my CLS...
I was doing the usual 75 and didn't notice the sign saying: "55 mph".
So the CHPs pulled us over. Officer came to me and asked if I had any drinks that night. I said that I didn't have anything that night. He took me out from the car and did a test with the finger asking, again, if I had any drinks that night... he asked me about drinks few more times.
Then he went on with the questions about any medications and etc.
Next thing I knew - the breathelizer tube right next to my mouth Negative results. I really didn't drink anything.

My friend, meanwhile, after being searched by another officer, had his digi camera handy. So he had a chance of taking one picture before the battery went dead.

Can't say too much sh~t about those CHP guys, since they weren't bitching. Except for the fact that I was asked quite a few times about drinks and drugs.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but everytime I drive in California, I don't pickup any police radar unless I'm way out in the desert someplace. Do they use radar in San Diego? You would think so as far as everyone drives there.

Most CHPs just pace you. Local cops uses radar more often.

Not quite true ! I drive on a road called VASCO near Livermore. CHP and the Sheriff dept. join in radar attempts. Thanks to my Fabulous Valentine One, they can't fuck with me, however, on 580, CHP does pace and work with those "jokers in the sky" in there dinky airplanes, I love to open the sun roof and shoot them all the birds.....anyway, radars are also used in the cities and certainly the small towns with the bored cops ! They got me and that is ONE reason I got V1 and because of this group of people !

CHP almost always pace...but then they have to pace you for a mile....just keep your eyes open and watch the guy that is weaving to catch up to you...take the first exit and start hitting corners.

Hell the area above and below Ojai and to the west of the 5 freeway has more:

1. Speed check by aircraft
2. Speed checked by radar
3. Speed checked by informants (j/K)

Signs, than I've ever seen. It you aren't looking out the moonroof, you need a couple of observers and a well setup V1 and scanner.

(God, you would think the tumbleweeds have a bunch of lobbyists and a big PAC...)

There is a sign near Sylmar, California that says "Speed Checked By Radar" on the freeway. Strange, there are no on-ramps or off-ramps, but there is a CHP officer with a nice big radar gun sitting on the median or shoulder waiting *and* giving out plenty of tickets. I've seen quite a few, pull-outs, and nabs.

lol, but this is a very real threat here in the dirty south, 5 of my friends all got tickets for 105 in a 70, at 4 am on a empty highway when a "concerned motorist" called in and reported them
and now they have put up a huge bill board on the highway that says "this aint no race track"

Did these people get the tickets later, just 'cause someone said so... Or did they appoint a "radar" operator to play junior informant (radar snitch).

I though i was joking, but it makes me never want to drive through the South. Danger is one thing. However, our rights seem to be getting a butt-kicking at the moment. Just a question and my opinion.

Ouch!
