The Mustang is more fun to drive. It handles like a go-cart compared to the CL-S but it gets zero respect on the road. Plus, it's bumpy as hell and full of rattles compared to the Acura. I rarely drive it since the CL-S is so much more comfortable. I measured them with a G-Tech and they're both about as fast as each other.

 

He's full of shit auto vert GTs are slow.

It's like a big pissing contest. I'm sure there are some mustangs that can beat a CLS. And there are a lot more CLS that can beat mustangs. It's like when ur friend says he has a 8" cock and is braging all over the place. But when it time to show the goods, he backs down. I'm not trying to be gay or anything, just making a point.

Are you saying that there are more CL's that are faster than mustangs than mustangs faster than CL's?I am not to sure of this. For every CL who is in the 13's, there are 1000 mustangs who are in the 12's. Way cheaper to mod and there are a ton of them out there. Mustangs always freak me out. I hardly ever encounter a stock mustang.

I think he was referring to the Bonneville, not the CLS.

I think it is possible for an 01 Vert Auto to beat a CLS Auto. I've heard of the Verts running mid 14s. I know a lot of them are low 15s, but it is POSSIBLE. Now if it was a 6speed CLS, thats a different story.

From the way he is describing the "Race", I don't think the CLS was running at 100%. The guy in the CLS was probably driving aggressive(75-80%), but not racing. I love the fly by, the CLS didn't see the cop, so its a fly by???

In any event, it is sad to see people who claim to be enthusiasts talking out their arses, I mean if I didn't know the HP or TQ of the CLS, I'd keep my mouth shut.

Also, its nice to see the CLS guys going over there and being civil. Its refreshing.

Why is there such a rivalry between cls and mustang owners. i like the new stang. they are to very diffrent cars. i think there are trade offs in speed and lux, and qualtiy. i have to agree with dave some stangs can beat some cls and vice verca.

 

I agree....A LOT OF MUSTANGS can walk our car....but none of them can do it with the luxury we have...totally different vehicles to say the least....but it does give you a lot of satisfaction when you smoke an automatic GT.....

 

i promise if you went and got a 03 CL-S 6 speed with a Comptech Supercharger on it you will OWN them unless they got some WILD mods(like NOS,or twin turbo) cause rumor is the 6 speed S/C will run a low 13. that one guy on there with his 3 mile long mod list can only do a 13.5

I have seen a stock auto vert 00 GT run faster than the best stock auto CL-S time of 14.6 I have seen.

It's a 14.2 car driven well.

You guys act like the auto/vert tag adds a fuggin second or something.

 

When did the CL-S become a drag racer?
ALL these Mustang vs. Acura whatever threads need to die. The fact is the Mustang(V8) is a chunky piece of cheap plastic with a big engine so yes I bet it can outrun a CL-S when the Mustang not in the shop for a repair or a recall.
These are very different cars for different demographics.

Though it is amazing how little the Mustang people know about the CL-S.

That guy is an idiot. My little sis has a 01 Mustang Gt 5 speed, and my CL spanks her ass. And let me tell the girl can drive. Also she has 28K miles and an CAI on her car. As for Mustang quality, they may have GM beat, but can't touch the stability and refinement of the Acura. When I close her doors there is no poof sound. It is more like clunk. The car is still new and sound like it is falling apart. The only mustang I would ever own is the 03 Cobra, but the gas hog tax should tell you something about that damn car.

LOL....my Cobra has 44k HARD miles, ~150-160 dragstrip passes and horsepower WELL over any spec Ford would have considered and my tranny still works fine.

Your trannys grenade left and right and many have grave concerns about adding a mere 80hp from the CompTech blower and having disatrous tranny failures.

I've said many times here, anyone want to run a 13 in a bone stock CLS as I have in a bone stock 00 GT? Then I will buy the kills I read on here almost daily.

But- everything is relative. the guys on the Mercedes forums could say "used to have a CL...". Ferrari forums: "used to have a Mercedes..." the food chain goes quite a bit further than Acura.

 

I like mustangs and all of the ones I've ridden in have been a hell of a lot faster than my CL. They may be cheap and shodily constructred, but when warmed over, they are fast as fuck!!! For drag racing, the CL is not as good as a mustang. Some people refuse to belive that. The drivetrain in a 5.0 will easily handle triple the stock horsepower without failure. The CL may beat some stock mustangs but once a stang recives a little engine work, it gonna be over.

 

Hey Pull_T I will gladly compare repair bills -LOL. 2 oil changes so far and nothing else. Yes, I have an automatic and it runs perfectly and quietly. No rattles, no squeaks...
Remember, only 2% of transmissions are failing.
I am in still in shock when I see all the TSBs and recalls Ford owners have to deal with. My dad has owned a new Ranger, a Taurus and a Focus so I know of whence I speak. I have several acquantances with Mustangs and you are a lucky one. Continued good luck with your car...

How about the most recent. FORD stopped production again on the 2003 Cobra for quality issues in the engine. Problems with the engines supposely.

One day you'll all realize that they're different cars in different classes. The CL/TL does it's job in the middle luxury class, and the Mustang does it's job in Muscle car class..... let it go....
