Cheap ass paint and poor design...

Well, 2 months ago, I decided to have my front bumper repainted since the cheap-ass plastic license plate holder vibrated and scratched the paint right off. Acura of Lynnwood said they wouldn't cover it but told me they would tighten the thing down so it wouldn't happen again...end of my worries.

Well, I checked the other day and, guess what, it happened again. Now they tell me that, in fact, there are 2 extra holes in the plate holder that need to be fastened (so it won't vibrate) but that it would require drilling into the bumper. I asked them why they didn't say that b/f and they didn't have a response. All they could tell me was that they still wouldn't pay to fix it. What assholes! I've had them do every interval service, every oil change, and I paid them $$ to buy and install my headers and springs. Anyone else in Seattle use them? Can anyone suggest another dealership that doesn't blow off clients just to save $50 on repainting a bumper (twice).

My paint has never been damaged from the front plate. But there are two nice holes in the front of the bumper (4 total). Sort of defeats the purpose.

Get the paint fixed and take the front plate off.

After you had it repainted, why whould you think it would not happen again? Anywhere the plate touches, it will scratch.

My front bumper is scratched because of the plate holder, but I don't have it screwed into the bumper. To eliminate further scratching I put self-adhesive weather stripping/window gasket material around the edge of the plate holder. This seems to work pretty well.

A friend of mine has an Accord coupe with the same type of plate holder and his bumper is scratch-free (he caught it in time). I also used this on my rear plate to eliminate rattling and prevent scratching. I have no rear plate frame.

I moved my plate under the bumper. If you do a search, I'm sure you can find some instructions. It looks pretty good and keeps it legal.
