charcoal/carbon cabin filter makers/reviews?

If we all farted $100 bills we could just get the HEPAs, which seem to be the best cabin filter. Since most of us do not:

1. Which manufacturors make carbon cabin filters for CL and CLS? If so, what freakin filter #? Do you know for a fact, as in you have installed it in your CL-S and you are breathing pure air as we speak?
2. Does anyone have a review after having installed? It's been a while.

3. Thread "Everything you wanted to know"..by Dan
https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=139370 talks of new micron filter in '04s. Can we get these for older models?

Member IntegraVT posted a pic of a Purolator C15390 side by side with a Honda OEM. Both had Micron Air's part number stamped on them, HN98104P
http://www.acura-cl.com/forums/showthread.php?t=91473

Great and props IVT. However, why do MicronAir and Purolators sites show no application to our CL and CLS?

Ran into the same bull with Optima Battery website. Great battery, fits in our Acuras yet the Optima website shows no application to CL and CLS.

HEPAs and charcoal a scam?

"To clarify, there are no HEPA level efficiency cabin air filters. HEPA media would be too restrictive for an automotive HVAC system and the resulting pressure drop would be unacceptable.

No charcoal in our particle filters. (NHBlue here, this includes the

1. So why does the site list
High Efficiency Particulate Filter with Activated Charcol -is this just a play on words to end up with the acronymn HEPA?

has no charcoal. So why does the moonlight mech site write up this 2nd lower priced one as having a carbon coat?

I have FRAM Charcoal Air Filters installed in my CLS that I bought at advanceautoparts.com (part #CF8603). I can't say that I really notice a difference between these and the oem filters. My car doesn't smell, but then again it never has. I keep it pretty clean. I've had them installed for about seven months now. I paid $25.88, but I'll probably go cheaper next year and get non-charcoal filters. Charcoal is probably more gimmicky than anything. I still smell dead skunks and such when driving with the windows up and the recycle button off.

all for a change

To clarify I think all of us should change our CAFs as needed.
Everyone who has changed has said improvement. I'm slated for Satarday.

Just appears to be bull that true HEPAs exist or that charcoal coated ones exist in the 20-30 range, so why should board members be subject to advertising that says "HEPA" or "charcoal". (Rep says charcoal is on the $58 model).

[QUOTE=Type Sun]I have FRAM Charcoal Air Filters installed in my CLS that I bought at advanceautoparts.com (part #CF8603). I can't say that I really notice a difference between these and the oem filters.

Fram #CF8603
Purolator #C15390
OEM 80291S84A01204381HAS8A40
Moonlightmechanic R2061-138860
All around $20-28 before shipping if online.

All of the above are the same filter, the High Efficiency Particulate Filter made by Freudenberg-micronAir. Regarding this filter, Product Manager says:
"No charcoal in our particle filters."

$58 model does have it.
"High Efficiency Particulate Filter with Activated Charcol."

That website made a mistake. Check out this link: http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductD...ype=10&ptset=A
The FRAM filter DOES have charcoal in it, as stated in this website, and I can verify that, because my filter came gray instead of white, which is the color of the oem filter. Look at your link again and compare the color of the two filters shown.

The guy who said "No charcoal in our particle filters" is
Barry Brewer
Product Manager, micronAir Filtration
Freudenberg Nonwovens....

......who allegedly make the Fram CF8603. Wonder if Fram then takes it and puts a carbon coat on it? I'll try to find out.

Purolator

re: Purolator C15390:

Purolator did use Freudenberg as a supplier for the C15390, but now manufactures the product. Purolator does offer some cabin air filters with carbon impregnated media depending upon the application, but does not have a charcoal version of the C15390 at this time.
Tom (Filter Hot Line) [ of Purolator Corp]

From Freudenberg/micronAir Product Manager:
"Any filter manufactured by us will have the micronAirŽ name on it"

Type Sun and all i think I am in error on Fram CF8603 currently or ever being made by Freudenberg/micronAir. Will find out who makes Frams filters.
