Changing power steering fluid while not damaging the ps pump

I've read the DIY on changing the power steering fluid.
https://acurazine.com/forums/third-g...-flush-761094/

However, as to power flushing or not, not the DIY link above but for example dealership flush machines, i have been told often times this screw up more then it fixes. What started out as a simple flush ends up being oh the pump is now broken.

Can power flushing cause seals or ??? to break?
Or if they break during the flush, were they already almost wasted so just as well they broke during the power flush.

I'm planning on doing the DIY flush above, not the power flush.
Any thoughts on what parts i ougt to have on hand? Already have two orings.

I'm kind of spooked about removing hoses and trusting someone to turn the key off when needed so.....

I used a turkey baster and about 3 bottles of HONDA/ACURA power steering fluid. I would get out as much as I could out of reservoir and add new. start car, move steering back and forth a few times then repeat until used 3 bottles gone or until pretty clear. You won't get every drop of old fluid out but it will be better. Mine was horrible. Same with Transmission fluid. I did a full drop 3 several times until it was nice clean fluid. what a messy job that was too!

Have fun!

^^ yes i did that about 9 months ago and again a week ago.
Obviously dirt is getting in from somewhere.
Probably the seal around the pump.
