Changing oil myself

Hi, I'm gonna change my oil myself since it's cheaper than the dealership is offering to do. If anyone can tell me exactly how much quarts do our CLs take thanks. I read the manual but i don't think i'm looking at it right.

Hopefully the extra $5 won't break your bank.

That's not a bad idea selling the thing for 5 bucks. Probably do a local pick-up thing lol

He probably got better, ie. more expensive oil/filter than what the dealer uses. Mobil 1 is $5/qt and a Mobil 1 filter is like $12. Tell the local oil jockey's to use Mobil-1 oil & filter and it'll be $50 at least for the job.

You should buy used oil and save money that way next time.

find a local shop or dealership to perform the work with you providing the oil and filter. when i was in school in ohio with no access to tools or workspace, i brought my own oil and filter to the local honda dealership and they charged me like $8-$13 to do the work.

perhaps you should considering downgrading temporarily until you finish school... if all your money goes to your car, i dont think you are going out and having very much fun at school

    at least during college: alcohol>*

and just save the oil for next time... sheesh

Perhaps you should have chosen a cheaper car to maintain. You drive a CL and you're crying over 1 quart of oil????

I hope you are exaggerating. Maybe you should consider public transportation. Do you sleep/live in your car? Down by the river?

We get free oil recycling, but I take mine to a friend who's dad uses engine oil for his heater in the winter, awesome way to recycle since he is a diesel mechanic and gets all the oil from the trucks.

Where are you going to school where the organic chemistry is kicking your ass? My friend went to temple and had to take it twice...imagine what he will do in medical school...
