Centercap paint coming off.....

The black paint on the OEM wheel centercaps is starting to fade/rub off. Has anyone else experienced this problem? I'm a little upset since the car is less than a month old with 600 miles on it. Has anyone had success getting replacements under warranty?

Danny - that's what I'm talking about! The black paint on the Acura Symbol is rubbing/fading so much that some spots it's looks brown and in others I can see the silver of the wheel.

Jens - thanks for the support.

Is this a common problem or did I just get lucky?

I think you are the lucky winner.

I haven't heard anyone talk about this before.

Sounds like you got "lucky". But it's brand new, so the warranty will definitely cover it.

I have an 01, no problems.

Who has washed the car? Have you used any wheel cleaners? Some are very harsh. Taken it to a car wash? The car could have been prepped incorrectly at the dealer. The wheels could be defective. Just take it in to the dealer, see what they think....

I've washed the car twice at a car wash. No wheel cleaner just standard car wash soap. I don't think it was that soap/car wash facility since they can barely get the real dirt off.

I'm more inclined to agree with you that it was bad prep or defective center caps.

Thanks for all the help.

Have to watch that high pressure stuff at car washes. But it should not be a problem.

My car was shipped/had protective plastic on the wheels (I assume they still do). I can think of more than one wrong way someone could clean the plastic/adhesive off.

If you got a spoiler, check for metal shavings in the trunk sill. If you got splash guards, check the install. (just from my experience). Good luck.
