Center Console doesn't stay open

When I open up my center console to the second tier (to the big space) it doesn't actually stay open, it wants to fall down. Is this normal? I don't really have that much stuff on the top of it, just some Altoids, pen & paper. My '98 accord coupe had the same type of console and it stayed open. Going to take my car in for the 7500 mile service tomorrow and it would be a good time for me to tell them about it if it's a problem.

The first thing I would try is taking the pen and paper out. Why not use the Ac set that is supplied in the dash? I went out and checked mine and it stayed open with 3 pens, 75 cents, and a security pass from work and other stuff in it. My car was on a level surface.

Which dealer do you use, Ron Tonkin or Ac of Portland. Mine came from Ac of Portland. Havn't seen you around, are you ever downtown?

yeah i have the same issue...i use the big compartment for CD cases, so when im shuffling through them, i use my right elbow as a wedge to keep the lid up and out of the way...not too much of a distraction, but it does get annoying.

Thanks for checking... I use that compartment for my CD cases as well and yes, it does get extremely annoying to have to hold that thing up while switching through them.

Mattg - I go to Ron Tonkin Acura... I do computer consulting so I travel through Downtown a lot to get to clients, but I rarely go downtown to cruise or anything like that. Where abouts do you live? I'm in SW, Tigard, Beaverton area...

Hey you two guys are the only ones I see on the board from Oregon. Are there others?! If not you ought to cruise up to the Seattle area for one of our meets. Or we'll throw something were we meet half-way. Cool?!

As for the center console. I just use my elbow, but I try to stay outta there as much as I can 'cause it's nothing but receipts, remeinding me how much damn money I spend.....UGH.....

Anyhow, now that I'm pissed at myself......I'd try and reduce the weight of the upper console...also make sure the upper console is slid all the way to the back.....I know there's a way you can open that bastard with it slid to the front....making it alfully difficult to get in there.

muffdvr, sounds good to me, let us know if you guys do anything between seatac and pdx. I guess you guys are getting soaked too.
