Catalytic converter

Hey guys, so I'm going to finally throw my exhaust on at the end of the month and I need to replace my cat as well. For what I have would a test pipe be to loud or drony? How would a high flow one sound in your opinion?
I'm trying to keep it as cheap as possible because I'm a broke ass student so please keep that in mind.
and my setup so far is XS headers and greddy evo 2 catback.

high flow cat= better flow and and makes exhaust a little louder

test pipe= even better flow and makes the exhaust even louder than hfc and it also makes the inside of your car smell like gas.

i personally would never buy a test pipe because of the gas fumes.

I've never had a prop with fumes w/o a cat only way you'll
Get fumes is if that's gaskets are blown but then you'll hear the leak

Grammar. Do you know it?

Don't get a test pipe, because it will make your exhaust sound raspy. I would go with a HFC if you must replace your OEM one. Even a HFC will make your exhaust sound a little more raspy, but nowhere near as bad as a test pipe. Plus, you won't pass emissions with a test pipe.

your best bet is to get a magnaflow high flow cat. Although i barely passed emissions with it on...not sure if you have those tests in Alberta. Have your shop weld flanges on it so it can be a direct fit.

A high flow cat, if designed properly, will make virtually as much power as a test pipe. It will also cut down on some of the drone and rasp. We offer a high flow cat for the 2G CL/TL.

I have had the xlr8 hfc and test pipe both installed. I never had any fumes in the cabin issue with either one. My cat droned at 2k rpm but it isnt the latest version I believe. My test pipe I don't notice the drone as much. I could have possibly had an exhaust leak before tho. The sound is still really quiet from my perspective.

doesn't a test tube make our motors lose low end a bit?? vs high flow should make it so u barely lose low end and then gain up top end?

If it does make it a free-er flowing exhaust then you'll lose some low end. That's why you don't put a 3 inch exhaust on a NA car.
