Removing Rain-X is pain in the ass, Rain-X makes using the wipper sound like a freaking train...

I applied it this weekend, and guess what...it rained today.

It seemed to performed the same as rainx. Lite drizzle and driving 65+, water somewhat rolled off the windshild. In heavy rain, it worked great. "Just like on TeeVee"

Easy to apply. Spray on. Wipe off. With rainx I had to rub it in.

One thing i noticed was there were less rain spots on the windshield.

Did it cause the wipers to skip, like Nashua mentioned?

I didn't try my wipers. I let the castrol do the work. It's suppose to rain some more, so I'll check the noise.

I believe that to really remove Rain-X, you would need to rub the glass surfaces with alcohol until you get a nice dry 'glassy' feel to the windshield. Best I can describe it, and it does sound like a PITA.

BTW, welcome to the board.

You can buy silicon remover for rainx at pepboys.

I have this stuff called dry-wash. You can spray it all-over the car (except the tires). On paint it worked like a sealant and on glass it worked like rain-x. I applied it one day, then sprayed the car with water. The paint and glass beaded the water.

Haven't used in on the CL-S yet.

For those of you who have not used Rain X. It is not a good product to use on the car. I makes your wiper skip and almost impossible to remove. It creates a lot of frication and that's why the wiper wears out prematurely and skips. besides, Rain X only works at high speed. I used it long time ago and threw it away because of this problem.

I've used RainX on several cars and never had a skipping or any other type of problem.

BTW - I've had it on my 02TLS since March.

I have used Rain X for many years on my cars & others. I have not had any problems with wiper chatter about 4yrs. I have used this product & others. I find that the Aquapel Glass Treatment works the best. It is more exspensive $14-$20. You have to have it applied at places like Ziebart Tidy car. I also have seen it at a Full Service Precision Tune that my sister has work done on her van & car. I use the Rain X on the side windows & rear.Rain X deos not last so long before you have to reaply it. The Aquapel last 6months or more. Mine lasted about 9months. I did put Rain X on the winshield 3 weeks ago. Rain X works weel at highway speed & in heavy rains. Also when you put on Rian X do this.
#1 clean windows with a window cleaner.
#2 Put Rain X on in small circles with a paper towel let dry to haze repeat step #2 again.
#3Wipe off with a wet paper towel repeat put alot of water on the glass. I also like to put it on just before I wash the car. I just clean the windshield with glass cleaner then Put on Rain X as above. when you wash the car this helps get off excess. I do stress that the Aquapel is better & last very long.
I also change wiper blades once a year.
I try do do this after winter is over in the spring.

Those petroleum based stuff seems to eat the wiper blades after 1.5 seasons. I don't know if that's a good thing... hate the rainx stuff.

I have used Rain-X for many years and never had a problem other than it's a pain in the a$$ to put on properly. No streaking, no skipping, or anything else. My experince comes from years of driving in LA (wipers aren't used that much) and New Jersey (Use 'em at least 2 times a week). The one thing I do like is that you use your windshield wipers less with Rain-X. In all but heavy rain, I use only intermittent setting. At night I have to use faster.

I just bought the new Castrol stuff and haven't used it yet. The commercial sold me on how easy it was to put on. I have 4 cars and it is on all 4 of them.

Rain-X kinda removes itself after a month or 2 so then you hafta reapply. Good stuff but that's my opinion.

I love these polarizing subjects. Kinda like the Armoral question. Does it really crack and dry out rubber? Is this an Urban Legend? A competitor BS rumor? People hear them and repeat them as if from their own experience. Do you use Armoral? Why not? Have you ever had a dash crack or a tire split from Armoral? Same kind of argument and comments. BTW JMO

Well, it rained again. I tried my wipers during a dizzle and hard rain. No noise except for the normal noise when the wiper changed direction to the down wipe. SO....OK so far.
