Carbon Build up on the Oil filler neck (Sienna)!
I just noticed there is a real think and dark black soot/gunk black carbon just at the neck of the engine oil filler. This is on my Toyota Sienna. I can scrach it with my finger and it is realy thick.
I changed the Mobil 1 Oil with the Purolator filter PureOne PL10241 with the same. The used oil was not too dark. It was still in good condition.
Engine has 52.7k miles. Used Oil served some 6.5k miles.
Now does this black carbon build up warrant a visit to the Toyota dealer?
Thanks.

I read an article a while back that said that Toyota was having problems with their 3.0 liter engines. The problem was carbon and sludge buildup causing loss of oil pressure and a subsequent engine failure. I am not sure if this applies to your 3.0 liter, but you might want to take it in to have it checked out.
