Car wouldn't start - had to drive truck

I went out to leave for work this morning and noticed that I hadn't shut the trunk of my CL. I closed it and jumped in to start her up and she wouldn't crank over. Thinking back to yesterday, I hadn't been in the car since about 2pm. I guess that little trunk light drained the whole battery!

Luckily I have another vehicle...'95 F250. It still has about 1.5 yards of dirt in it for my garden @ about 2000lbs per yard. That was a fun commute! I could actually watch the gas needle move going up hills.

Your battery must have been real iffy if that trunk light drained the battery. I've left my dome light on overnight with no problem. It was probably time for a battery anyway. I changed mine at 75k miles when I started noticing it cranking a little slower in the mornings.

Yeah I left my dome light on for like 18 hrs and it cranked up fine. Dont our cars have an accesory shutoff switch to preserve battery life? My taurus did.

Yeh, my battery is really iffy at this point. It did the same thing. On a list of things to purchase. Wheel and tires came first.

My battery is only ~15k miles old (1 year)...had to get the 51R optima yellow top for the supercharger. I also have a 12W bulb stuck in the truck as opposed to the 5W, maybe that had something to do with it.

the dome light does have the shutoff feature - both my 2001 and 2003 cl's did this.

I found out about the feature when some punks broke into my 2001 (on christmas eve, no less) and left the door open all night.

I've also been out in the car working and had the dome light shut off on me. turning the light off and then back on again reset it.

I don't know about the trunk, though...

If you've had rain up there, that dirt would weigh more than 2000lbs.

Have you thought about Supercharging the F250??? That would be a hoot!

Hopefully you don't need to pull the battery out. I've heard that you can get it out by removing the ice box but hopefully it's something you won't have to worry about.
