Can't help you locate one since I'm not from around there, but when you go to a do-it-yourselfer wash, I'd make sure to check that there aren't any little stones or abrasive grit in the brush from the people who used it before you. After washing my car at one of those last summer i noticed a few scratches on the trunk that had to have come from there.

Don't use their brushes. If you want to hand wash it, bring your own bucket, soap and wash mitt or whatever you use. You can never rely on them having clean brushes.

At my apartment complex we have a car wash area, but the water has been turned off since October.

So what i did was wash mine using using two buckets - one with soapy water and a wash mit, the other with clean water and a clean wash rag. I made sure to presoak the car a little bit then i soaped up and area and washed it off with the clean water/rag to get the soap off. You have to make sure not to get any junk in the rags to minimize scatches, but it worked pretty well. Changing water often helps too. I then waxed it...and then it rained the next day.

Oh well it's hard to keep'em looking clean all the time around here.

That's my best advice until the weather gets nice out. There's also a spray it yourself auto wash place here in Germantown with the sudsy brushes and spray waxes and junk. But those brushes are a little too much of chance to take with our cars finish...at least in my opinion.

Good luck with whatever you try!

You gotta find one of those truly touchless car washes (Laser Wash) They use lasers to guide the sprayer around your vehicle (which remains stationary throughout the wash). Absolutely nothing touches the vehicle. Afterwards, there's usually a high-powered blow dryer you "drive thru" slowly. They cost anywhere from $5 to $12 depending on the options you choose, like undercarriage wash, wax, etc. Not as good as a gentle hand wash, but much better than the flapping paint bashers used in the non-touchless washes.

I run a hose from my kitchen sink, out the window, to the driveway. This way I get warm water. I also wear rubber gloves so my hands don't freeze. Then to dry it I use my leafblower. I don't have any leaves, I bought it to dry the car. Its very fast and efficient.

Take it to Embassy or MR. Wash. They use soft cloth machines, and they are quick.

I told them before I went thru the machine, that if it fucked up my rims they were paying for it. They were cool with it, and they've NEVER messed my car up.

The stingy bastards at my apartment cut the water in the winter too...

Never thought of using a leave blower to dry the car. Will try it when it reaches 50 degrees. Sounds like a good idea.
