Car vs Deer (Pictures) PG-13

Mods: Please feel free to remove if anything is too graphic!

So, I was driving down the interstate in the right lane. Cruise control set to 70MPH. Came around a bend and a small deer(it had to of just lost it's bambi spots) was jumping from the left lane to the right lane as if it was coming from the median. I hit it while it was in midair. I barely had time to hit the brakes any. Unfortunately it did not make it, but I was uninjured. I heard it more than I felt it, so it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I'll find out the damage in the next couple of days. Hopefully this doesn't happen to any of you!

Frightening, I hate that. I live near a park with hundreds of deer and have to look carefully every night almost all year. Good thing you weren't hurt. I remember a few years ago a woman driving to work in AM rush when she hit a deer and went straight into the windshield and killed her.

wow you were lucky that it was just a bambi. I have seen first hand a buck come thru the windshield, and then jump out and run away. funny thing was the insurance didn't belive me until they saw the hair everwhere.

good to hear you are unhurt. damage could be worse too...looks like the fender is fine and your bumper could probably make it with just a respray. Hood and headlight suck though. Carbon hood time?

I wish I could do the carbon fiber hood! Problem is...everybody wants this stuff called money and lots of it. I can't seem to find enough laying around to pay for anything. Haha!

Seriously though! I appreciate the support. I have also heard some horrifying deer vs car stories and I got off scott free with this one.

looks like you got some fecal matter along with the blood...nice. a few years ago a buck ran into my car, i didnt hit him, he hit me! anyways due to the massive blunt force trauma to his dome peice he lost bowel control and sprayed shit down the whole side of my car. the best part was a few minutes after it happened a redneck pulled up in his pickup truck and asked if he could have it so him and his buddy threw it in the back and off they went, when the cops came they said good thing- they would have had to shut down the road to shoot it even though it was dead.

After reading the heading it made me think about the time I hit a deer. I was going about 45 MPH with a military humvee. All I did was break the deer's leg. My commander was upset because he wanted deer for dinner. I am glad to hear that you are alright. Deer makes good jerky.

ouch to say the least, to your car and the deer, well glad you came out okay, it must have been like that scene from the ring 2 where all the deer attack the car, you could prolly get a carbon hood w/ the insurance money though...

That's my biggest fear driving at night. I've driven up & down I95 on the east coast to NY & seen eyes on the side of the roads. But they have stayed there thank God.
Glad your ok.

I've read your better gripping the wheel & slamming the deer then your brakes.

No deer for dinner! There wasn't much of it left when it was all over since it was so small, but had it been a larger one, I def would've kept it. Plus, thats like a sign from god. If he throws a deer in your face at 70MPH, he means grillin' time.

Just got the preliminary quote. So far it's at $4,000.
They said they would call me back once they got on the inside.
I was looking over the estimate and found where it says Hazardous Waste Disposal. Haha! Thats the guts that were hung up in the radiator.
