I am talking about 540 auto Sport and CL-S manual. Both stock. And there is no way he will beat me above 100 mph. BTW is there any place in NJ where you can race for more that 1/4 mile? He does not want to risk his license.

if you did the race at a stop light you will win. Trap speed is worthless in this instance. Your friend would still be behind you at the next traffice light because you are physically ahead. SO....your car is faster.

Faster or Quicker??

They are different. :P

As it's been noted, you can have a car the does 0-60 in 6secs, but not be quicker from 'point A' to 'point B'.

This is what causes a lot of folks to get hung up that a car with a better 0-60 time is faster. It may be faster to 60MPH, but that does not guarantee that it'll get to 'point B' quicker.

The same applies to the 1/4 mile. The winner in any race that involves getting from one point to the next is not the one that is faster in terms of MPH, but the quicker elapse time.

That's why improving your launch is just as important as adding more HP to your car. It's also why with no HP mods I run consistent 14.6-14.70s because of my wheel set up, and why I beat guys with HP mods more often than not.

Note, wheels don't add HP, but they reduce the parasitic HP drain caused by heavier wheels and or tires. So you end up with a more effective utilization of your net HP.

You are quicker, he is faster....his slower time is probably more associated with the fact that he has an auto and you have a manual.

Looked at another way, say you raced on the Bonneville Salt Flats. You would pull away for awhile, but at some point 1/2 mile away or whatever he would possibly pass you. You would top out at 148, he may top out at 160 osomething like that. You are quicker, but he can go faster.

Try the turnpike between 10 and 9 southbound. There's an onramp from a roundabout (around rt 514) where the troopers park occassionally but from that point to the exit 9 offramp is a clear shot. (2nd choice: turnpike south past exit 6)

Peace.

Fuck the quarter mile times... take it to a road course and see who has the better lap times

The 14.3 is "faster" 'cause all anyone ever cares about is 1/4 mile times

Where we can run road corse? Also I do not think that CL-S will keep up with 540 in a non-straight-line competition.

Here are the details: me(540)/him(CL-S): 60' - 2.1/2.35, 1/8 - 9.2(76mph)/9.4(78mph), 1/4 - 14.31(94.1mph)/14.57(97.8mph).

ET is usually a function of traction and torque, mph is more reflective of horsepower (or torque over time). This is why guys who add power goodies can actually lower torque, lower their ET and are faster in the quarter and dont know why.
