Talking Car is running soooo smooth...

(After a dreaded long day at work & almost 15K on the odo....)

After an oil change of course! Mobil1 5W-30 + Wix filter + oil extractor = happiness. Quick 15:15 minutes (I used a stopwatch ).

question: after you pump out all the oil, does it suck out all the oil to the point where you take off the filter and no oil comes out? or do you still have to go under and put like an oil catcher and then change it to prevent drips on the floor?

well if there are some oil in the oil filter, than just use a zip lock bag while unscrewing the filter itself

Just use an extra large ziplock bag, wrap it around the filter, then unscrew. There wil always be oil left in the filter.

how much easier could it get to change your oil with this thing...

question, is there really any advantage to using this pump over draining the fluid out like normal?

See, that's what I've been asking myself. I know it's a lot more convenient to stick in a tube and pump out the oil. But knowing myself, I would still let it drain, too, for the fear that the pump may not extract all the oil. And you still have to get underneath the car to change the filter (well, I guess you could just turn the wheel and reach in for the filter, too.)

Either way, I still do it the old fashioned way.

As for the filter change, I always use a plastic bag to cover the filter before turning it loose. It catches all the oil pouring out of the filter. Just make sure you don't pull a dumbass move like me and forget to check for holes in the bag. That was interesting... turning the filter, then realizing the oil is leaking from the bag onto the garage floor. I didn't know what to do first, so I kept turning it, and all the oil was on the floor by the time I got it off. My dad did not like that at all, especially after almost slipping on it.

On a side note, I think the GM K-series trucks are the worst to do a filter change on. The damn filter is like built into the oil pan, and there's like maybe an inch of space between them. The first time I did an oil change on my dad's car, I backed it straight out of the garage, blocking the driveway perpendicularly... When I realized that I couldn't get a good grip on the filter, I also realized that both of my cars were blocked in and I couldn't go to the store to buy a filter wrench. So after cussing up a storm, I drove a nail into the filter and turned it little by little. Oil was dripping everywhere all over me, and it took like 10 turns to get it off. Ahhhhhh!! I hate GM.

it doesn't really save a whole lot of time.
because it pulls the oil thru a straw.
so it takes a little while.
and it doesn't pull the oil out of the filter.
but it is much cleaner.
i take the whole canister to pep boys to get recycyled.

and you can walk away while it sucks out the oil.
and u don't have take out the oil drain bolt.

It's been proven that this removes more oil than a traditional drain, simply because this sucks all the oil from the very bottom of the pan. The drain bolt is located above the hump of the pan, so when draining using that method, you still have oil sitting on that hump. You can also see to make sure you have all the oil drained because the extractor has the ability to take measurements.

I am not sure when and where I am going to get my car dyno tune. I am still looking for a dyno shop that is familiar with emanage. Joseph_99tl I used that on my trans but I will still remove the drain plugs to clean the magnet on the drain bolt every other trans fluid change.

Im getting the Tempo Oil Extractor (Oil Boy), but I remember reading that you needed longer hose to reach the bottom of the engine...does it come with it? Or do you need to buy any more additional hoses. Thanks

it comes with a 2 piece hose.
the length is adequate.
unless you want to change your oil from the bedroom.

then you need more hoses.

Do you need a special wrench to get the oil filter out? I never done this in my life so i dont know much about chanching oil. I read that never screw the filter too tight...is that true? Basically, can anyone give me a quick instruction on replacing the filter....I have a WIX filter ready to be installed!

Turn the wheels full right lock (pictured) and reach in there an untighten the filter. When putting the new filter on, ONLY handtight the filter, don't use any wrenches or anything.

Also, put a film of oil on the filter's rubber gasket.

When you pull the plug, does more oil drain out? If so, how much?

Got mine at Amazon.com ... helluva a deal ... works like a charm. And as someone else mentioned, it real easy to dispose of the waste oil (Kragen's here locally) ... just pour it out.

When I first got that oil change vacuum machine, I didn't trust it either but when I removed the plug it was dry!. I was sold that instant! Plus there are marks on the tank to tell you how much oil was vacuum out.

basically saying "i'd rather be ripped off on every little thing" that they do.

you can buy genuine honda oil/filters and not have to pay for "honda" labor. heck, there are better things out there than just "genuine" oem honda parts.

Or you can opt for more protection and get a thicker oil. Really up to you.

Go synthetic, a true synthetic works best.

Maybe it's just the way you typed it, but is there a difference b/w a "true" synthetic and a regular one? And is that syncromesh a considered a "true" synthetic?
