Car problem, need help diagnosing!
Hello all
First of all I have a 03 CLS 6 speed with the Comptech Supercharger. My problem cropped up in the last week and has been getting worse. Its hard to describe but here it goes, if I am cruising at highway speed and go to accelerate it acts like I took my foot off the gas completely. A second later it picks back up very suddenly. It also does it with the cruise control on too. Now it is starting to happen off the highway also and is sucking very bad.
My first though was something to do with the fuel delivery because it feels like the fuel just gets cut for a second and comes back on.
While surfing the Internet tonight for a possible cause I found this description of improper fuel pressure and it does have the first five symptoms.
"Symptoms include bucking on the highway, momentary cutting out, hesitation, low power, stalling at inopportune moments (typically, it will start up again after it has cooled off), high emissions, and, of course, no-starts and hard starting."
So that makes me believe it could be the Fuel pump or FPR. Any other suggestions would be much appreciative. Thanks in Advance.

Adventurist.
There has been numerous discussions about the FPR that CT provides crapping out. Try giving CT a call tomorrow, I believe they have replaced the FPR on those who report it.

Another area to check would be the connections on the ESM. There have been others that have had problems that seemed to be FPR related that were corrected with soldering the ESM connections. They switched to solder connections sometime last year. Mine was an August 2004 kit and it had solder connections.

Well I think the problem has been fixed. I talked to Shad at Comptech and he suggested that is was a loose ESM connection. I called up the dealer where I had it installed and today they soldered the connections. So far so good and hopefully that’s all it was. I never did look at the actual ESM connection until the other day and it is amazing nothing had happened before. It was much closer to the passengers feet than I expected. I figure someone may have kicked it accidentally a loosened up a wire. Not any more, the soldering job is great and tucked away hopefully not to be kicked again.
