car idles weird

i need help guys, i have a 2003 cl-s 6speed and when im in neutral at a red light or going drive through for some food, my car starts to shake a lot making it seem like its going to stall and than it saves itself every single time, anybody ever have this problem? if so, how did you fix it, what is the problem? what was the estimated price to do all the labor and what not, is it doable to do on my own or does it have to be brought into the shop

- please please please car guru's help me out this car is starting to piss me off bc of the idling stages and the cel light is on as well, im thinking its the iac valve but not sure i replaced all 6 spark plugs already and so when i get the codes checked, it still says random misfires now im thinking it could be the coil packs anybody have some laying around as well? i feel like selling my baby even though i love it so much but dam its just making me want to cry with these problems

WHAT I AM ASKING FOR
- help with why my car is always trying to stall
- coil packs
- fixing cel light
- price and labor wise or doable on own for iac valve or whatever the problem could be

thanks in advance
- tummi

I would say coil packs at this point. You can clean the IAC first & see.

There have been a few guys that had a bad ECU that was causing this same problem.

Could be caused by a clogged injector as well.
Bad valve?

Check for spark before going the other routes...

How many miles do you have on the car? have you ever had your injectors cleaned? have you ever cleaned the TB?

I agree with fuzzy, clean the IAC first.

thanks for all the replies guys i will check with the IACV first than if that doesnt work i wll clean injectors or replcae coil packs.... keep ya updated
- car has about 74000 miles on it
- is it better to clean iacv or just replace it with a new one?
- what sparks are there to check? (sorry i am a huge newb when it comes to cars, first car i actually cared about)

another thing is how do you clean iacv? is there instructions online somewhere or do i just find take it apart, clean it and put back together like a puzzle?

thanks once again guys

i got the codes checked like 4 times from autozone and 2 times from two different shops, they all said random misfire and i replaced all 6 spark plugs already so do you think it can be the coil packs? i will attempt to clean out the TB when i clean the IACV as well

Bad coil pack FTW. Lots of 4 bangers also exhibit the same behavior when a plug wire or distributor cap's gone bad.

when you clean the IACV, make sure to use a good throttle body cleaner spray. nothing else.

UPDATE, so i finally cleaned the IAC valve, did sea foam with gas cleaner, and a oil change and guess what... my car is running shittier than ever! ill be driving in any gear and when i feel like rolling ill put it in neutral rolling down a street and BAM it turns off on me... this is really frustrating me and scary too when your driving about 50 with cars behind you and all of a sudden your car turns off?!?!?!

- next thing i am gonna try to do is replace coil packs if that doesnt work its either letting the car go or bringing to a dealership....
- so far all this car has given me is hassle and is taking away my money =(

hmmmm,

if there is a problem with a coil pack it should be throwing a code shouldn't it? I mean if a coil pack is bad and the spark isn't enough, it'll misfire won't it?

if the car turns off when you throw it in neutral but is fine otherwise, could it be a bad alternator or low battery?

what type of gas do you put in? 87? 89? 91?

if the coil packs are bad, it wont produce sparks on the plugs even if they're new.

you can check if your coilpacks are bad by uplugging them one at a time. if you pull a good coil the car idle will get worst, but if you pull the one that's bad it will stay the on same bad idle.
