Console yourself with this (unless you can really afford a new one) : when you go to sell your car its easier to sell an A/T !!! Only real enthusiasts will want a stick (far and few).

I just bought my car right before New Years... i wanted to wait but couldn't

very solid review...it was because of their initial little write up that I bought my CL-S without ever seeing or driving one....

Hell, after reading the review, I had to double check the sponsoring magazine ... at first I thought is Dar and Criver. But no ... it was the Car (BMW) and Driver (Editor) mag. It must have been quite an editorial session discussing an Acura in such superlative terms ...

Wonder how much it would cost to swap out our A/T?

Just do what I did.

Go into your dealer, hand them some LUBE, drop your pants and SPREAD-EM.
Let them take your ANAL virginity (I hope ) and find out what it’s going to cost to get you in a 2003.

im guessing the cost of switching transmissions is alot more then trading in your current ride for an 03..
also i thought they liked the 01, just said the obvious.. an all around nice car that's confused about if its trying to be a bmw or a caddy.. with the engine making promises the rest of car can't hope to keep..

Yes, you have the cost of the Transmission, Interior modifications, Pedals, Safety equipment, Electrical wiring nightmare and HOURS upon HOURS of labor.

This could easily cost you many THOUSANDS of dollars and it would void your entire drivetrain warranty.

Yes, I’m loosing a couple of GRAND, but I’m coming away with a proven car with ZERO miles and a 40,000-mile warranty.

That's all?!?! I figured it would be around 10-12k. I have an 01 Type S with 33,500 miles. If it was so cheap I'd write them a check tomorrow.

I bought my 01 for just over 30K (30,400 I think) and I'm getting 24K for it on the trade.

I paid sticker + wheel locks and spoiler back in the days when no one was dealing. I think it was around 36k by the time you add on TTL. So I'd have to pay that again. I guess I could only pay the difference in sales tax if I traded the car into the dealer, but they don't give crap on trade ins. So its either sell it pp and pay all the tax or trade it for less and pay less tax. Six of one, half a dozen of the other.

But I get to deduct part of the the loss on my taxes since I use the car for business. I'll have to run the numbers and see what that works out to.

Well, actually it was about 32K with tax.
The 30,400 number was for just the car, options & delivery charge.

Because I remember I put about 10K down and my loan was for 22K even.

BUT……I’m “saving” 1,440 on taxes on the trade for the 03. (24K x 6%).

Don't the RSX-S and S2000 have some problems with the 2nd gear synchros? Overall I'd feel more comfortable with a manual's reliability. I've never really trusted autos since they're so much more complicated. I'll give Shawn 6 months to find any bugs in the new tranny before I jump. Does anyone know if the CL-S's tranny is a totally new design or borrowed and maybe adapted from another model?

How are you saving money on taxes? I don't get it... You payed like $2k for taxes on the 2001, and you'll pay another $2k for taxes on the 2003.

You don’t pay tax on the trade amount.
So if the new car is say 32,000, I only pay 6% tax on 9,000 of it.
32K-23K=9K.

So the PA tax will only be 540 dollars.

At least that’s the way Pennsylvania is.

i love that write up, but i still dont like the car without the fogs. i drove a tl yesterday and it had real fogs, with a real switch. they were real nice and i wish i had them. Maybe i will when i get my tl-s. I dont know what car to look at next, but only time will tell. I may really have to look into the maxima or I35, the tl may not be sporting enough for me. we will see.
