Car acting really weird

I've been having lots of issues with my CLS lately... Headlights have not been functioning for a month or so. Both ballasts went out, so I ordered aftermarket ballasts that didn't fit and finally installed the OEM ones yesterday. The odd thing is that they'll only turn on for a bit and then shut off. I tested out multiple bulbs and ballasts yesterday, so I know the stuff that's hooked up is functional. Fuses are still good, but replaced them just in case. I think my battery may be dying, but could that really affect the lights like that?

Secondly, I started up the car this morning. The whole 8 mile trip the engine was revving between 1k and 2k rpms whenever the car was in neutral... No idea what the hell is wrong there. When I got back in the car an hour and a half later it was fine. I live in CA, so it really doesnt get that cold... I think it was 47 degrees F.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

47F is enough to start cold idle......usually pulsating idle is vaccum leak or malfunctioning/dirty ICV

did some work on mine a while back, didnt hook the battery up tight enough, the whole way home I was getting VSA + CEL and the rpms would fluctuate at idle... even if its on there tight check for acid and all that good stuff... you can clean it with a can of coke.

Thanks, I'll clean the terminals and see what happens after that. Still idling rough in the mornings, but clearing up as it gets warmer. Also, the lights are still shutting off after about 10 seconds, but coming back on when I switch them off and back on...

I bet the revving between 1k and 2k is the IAC. Same thing happened to mine, bout a 2-300 dollar repair.

You got jacked! The part is like $90 & 30 minutes to replace. An easy DIY with basic hand tools.
