Can someone describe the sunroof HOWLING noise to me ???
Since day one last June when I bought my car I have had the roof visor installed on my car so all the talk of this “problem” on the early build cars was of no concern to me.
I took my visor off for the winter and I haven’t opened the roof since November or so.
Yesterday on the way home it was warm enough to warrant opening the roof to enjoy the spring like temps we had.
I didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary for the first 3 or 4 miles because it is city driving at only 20-30MPH.
Once I got to the back roads I opened her up a bit as usual going 50-70MPH.
When I hit this speed, I heard a “humming” like resonant sound.
It was not just a sound because my steering wheel and gas pedal actually seemed to VIBRATE.
I tried to simulate what the so-called “dealer fix” would do.
While holding the wheel with one hand, I played with the windbreaker in front of the sunroof opening to see if I could raise or lower it into a position that would eliminate the vibration.
I was able to do eliminate the HUMM, but the resulting sound of the air rushing by at 50MPH was still annoying as hell.
I’ll be putting the roof visor back on this Saturday so my experimentation may be a moot point.
I know that many of you can’t stand the way the roof visor looks, but I can’t believe that you guys put up with this noise whenever the roof is open.
So, did I just describe the infamous sunroof defect, or does this sound like something else?

that sounds like what everyone is talking about.. i notice my catch on the sunroof flaps quite a bit at the hiogehr speeds.. I just bought mine but I don't know if the dealership took care of this problem - i doubt it.. it would be in the dealership's best interest to make customers come back (that way of they don't, they have not lost any man hours)....

I can hear it when I am going between 25mph-30mph. then when I get to 70+ I hear it again.
Damm annoying. Seems as if the spring loaded mech. that holds it in the UP position (while roof is open) are VERY weak and SUCK.
I woulld just pull that flap out completly.
